Mongolia via 'Stans 2012

Hi,

I am in the early stages of planning a trip from Derbyshire, England To Mongolia. Via Turkey, crossing the Caspian Sea into the 'Stans, taking the Pamir Highway, travelling through the Altai mountains and a bit of the Gobi before coming back through Russia and Poland.

Anyone want to come along? As I say, early stages at the moment, i've still alot to find out, so pretty flexible.

I plan to take a few high passes (if passable!) and tracks/dirt if I can find them and plan the whole thing to take about 3 months.

My bike is an '03 XT600e so a similar bike would be an advantage in respect of spares etc.

I'll be at Ripley next month so could meet up if anyone fancys it.

Dan

Hey Dan

I've had a brief thought about heading to Japan via the stans and Mongolia next year, but haven't done any proper planning for it. If it happens would be great to know someone else heading that way.

I'm hoping to get up to Ripley as well next month. Maybe catch up with you there?

Matt

Thanks for your replies guys.

I'm hoping to set out late May/early June next year. I need to get more info and chat to some people I know have been that way as it can take a while for the snow to clear in that part of the world I hear.

It would be great to have a and a chat Matt. I Look forward to it.

Hi Dan

your trip sounds interesting. I will be at Ripley, perhaps we could have a chat. I will be on an ex-army MT350 so I should be easy to find. I live in Derbyshire, High Peak area.

Hi Dave,

Think I may have seen your bike there last year (or one like it!).

I am also in the High Peak, we will have to make contact at Ripley. Housebound at the moment with a broken ankle.

Hey Dan,

Was hoping to get up there but unfortunately I had a bit of a spill last week. Completely gutted but looks like I won't make it this year.

Do let me know what your plans are though, would still like to be able to sort something out.

Matt

Hi Dave

Did look for you at Ripley, saw a couple of MT's but the owners were no where to be seen!

If you are interested in hearing about my plans maybe we could meet up locally in the Peak.

Dan
