Trans Canadian Adventure Trail 2014

Hi All. I'm planning to ride the Trans Canadian Adventure Trail July, August and September 2014. Anyone interested in joining me on this? Either the whole trip or for sections of it. Going East to West.

Hi tigertom, I'm also planning on doing the TCAT next year as well. My current starting date is around beginning of June. Depending on how flex you are with you times we could join up.

Cheers,
AdrianR

Hi Tom and Adrian

I might be interested, have plans to do either the TCAT or the TAT next year, but my dates have to be between the 19th July and the 7th Sept.

Just a bit about me: I will be 53 next year and live in England, I have been riding bikes a long time but it is only recently, in the last 3 years, have I been trail and off road riding. This will be my 3rd bigish trip having done 7000 miles around the The Stans and back to the UK in 2012 and then Mongolia to the UK in 2013. My bike will be a DRZ400s with a clarks 14ltr tank and soft panniers. I travel on the cheapish side, mainly camping and eating cheap or cooking myself.

I would like to ride with other rider’s part or all of the way and would allow about 5/6 weeks to do the trip how far I could get in that time I still have to work out.

I will keep an eye on this thread to see how things progress.

Cheers Nick

Hi Adrian and Nick

Perhaps I should expand my thoughts a little.

The suggested time for this route is 8 to 10 weeks so I reckoned on allowing 12 to be on the safe side and also not to have to rush past the great scenery. I was doing the later summer to catch the spectacular Autumn colours when getting to the West side.

I currently ride a Tiger Explorer but considering going to a Tiger 800xc for the trip as this will be a bit more nimble for the tougher sections. I will also be 53 next year and from England. This will be my first long trail ride.

I am also considering using the trip to raise funds for the Protrate Cancer charity to make the journey even more worthwhile. This part others can get involved in or not, it doesn't matter.

Sounds Great!

Hi tigertom,
After reading your posting I thought why not? I've posted a thread to all in regards to Credmond, and doing a short trip to Scotland + making my way back through the Lake District the on to the Hubb Meeting in June.
My times for doing the TCAT are flexible to an extent, my plans are to fly to Florida after the meet, spend some time with my brother & sister who live there, then make my way up the East coast to the start. July sounds a good start time to catch the late Autumn colour + I'm looking to go on to visit Yellowstone Park,
The Rockies,California the back east on Route 66.

Hi Tom, Nick & Sy,

A little more about myself and my plans. I'm 33 and from Guernsey, channel islands. I'm hoping to do the TCAT starting around 1st June and finishing end July on my R1200GSA.

After that I'm hoping to do a couple of the Back country discovery routes and the trans American trail on my way back to Halifax to ship back to the UK around 1st October.

It sounds like I'll be missing you all, so good luck with your respective trips. If our paths do cross I'll be more than happy to ride together, or at the very least share a beer.

Adrian.

Hi Sy

That sounds like a fairly full on summer you've got planned. But would be good if we can tie it together for the TCAT.

What bike do you ride? And which part of the country you from?

Tom

Keep our eyes open for you Adrian.

Bikes?

Hi Tom,
Firstly I live in Folkestone, near the Channel Tunnel. I,ve just bought my first bike over here F659GS Dakar, pick it up in the next couple of weeks, as I've never owned a bike thought it would be a good start.
I'll be 50 next year so i thought it was about time, and I can celebrate on the road. I've already started buying a KLR650 in the States, my brother and sister live in Florida, hopefully within the next couple of weeks, and store it there till next year.
My idea was to travel from there up the east coast, and meet you at the start.
Where are you yourself, and is July a good start time.
Regards Sy

Hi Sy

I'm from Barnstaple in North Devon.

Are you going to the bike show at NEC at the end of the month? Could meet for a coffee and discuss plans.

Plans?

Hi Tom,
Lovely part of the country you live in, I had the pleasure of spending a week there, which I really enjoyed.
Hadn't planned it or thought about it, looking to pick my bike up 23rd onwards from Leeds, then heading to Wigan for a few days, so meeting at the NEC would be no probs. Any date in mind?
Have you heard from Schoe000 he said he's interested?
Sy

tigertom 12 Nov 2013 22:26

Hi Sy

No fixed date on the bike show yet. Most likely the last weekend 30th Nov or 1st Dec. Depends if my daughter wants to meet there too. Keep you posted on this.

Nothing else from schoee000

Hi Guys
I am still here in the background following the thread. I am still at the collecting information stage. The only firm decisions that have be made are the dates,19th July and the 7th Sept, can't change those due to work and the fact that I am going. It might be the CTAT or the TAT depending upon circumstances.

Tom I live in Torbay, South Devon, so not far from you. I will be in Woolacombe in North Devon for the weekend of the 7th and 8th of December camping. If you about and have a bit of time to spare we could meet up and have a coffee or a beer. I will be at the ABR Exmoor Rally http://www.adventurebikerider.com/fo...mber-2013.html If either yourself or Sy is about you would be very welcome.

Cheers Nick
