Hello there,
from Februar 2002 I will travel alone from Asia towards Europe. I am undertaking a Global Polio Awareness Campaign 2001+ as an Ambassador for UNICEF. This is a very rewarding but additional and sometimes time consuming cause. I will proceed with the campaign during travelling. I hope I will find somebody who will join me on this good cause.

My girlfriend and I are going your way, but due to the nature of our work, we are with Medecins Sans Frontieres working in a cholera outbreak in zanzibar island Tanzania,(we are here together with Unicef) we won't be around there until sometime around June. We will start in NZ toward the end of Jan 2002

Great work you are doing - like to learn more about it - could you drop me a line?

I also would be able to meet you in New Zealand if you would like. I will be there from mid Jan 2002 until beginning of Feb (mostly Auckland).

Hi,

the last word I got is that our bikes will be arriving in Auckland by boat on Feb 18th. This may be a bit late for you, but if we could we would like to talk. Leave me your email. I have to get my hotmail sorted out first.

cheers and talk to you later

Jurgen,
You will not be able to go with your bike into Burma (all foreigners have to fly in and out of Yangon airport).
You will have great difficulty with Vietnam - and it may also be impossible. Your only way to stay overland is through Laos to China-Tibet-Nepal-India.

More than happy to be a little more helpful!
Please email me...

Sam.

Very interested to see your reply to this topic. Are you saying it is possible to travel through China with the bikes. We would be very interested in doing this but thought it was impossible / incredibly expensive. Any info you have would be much appreciated.
Also do you have info about Vietnam - we had understood that with carnets we could get in ok - is this now not the case?
Cheers

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
