Baja California to Guatemala May 24th!

Professional Adventurer?
Do your friends jokingly refer to you as "Indy"? Do you get lost in atlases looking at strange rivers and capitals? Have you ever applied to work in Antarctica or the Atacama?
Wry 27 y.o. Spanish-speaking athletic internationalist/rebel type seeks similar companion for part of the first leg of a grand journey through Mexico to the rest of the Americas by motocicleta.

Must be willing to fight mosquitoes, cook tortillas on the beach, get occasionally margaritaed, camp under the jungle moon, take turns watching our stuff, all with the extreme risk of being written as a character into an upcoming book.

Only two requirements:
Must have your own motorcycle, with basic equipment.
Must eagerly avoid tourist traps, highrise hotels, and other locations where painted donkeys and sombreros with pom-poms are the norm.

Shared costs will be fairly split. I will aid my partner in crime as a cool companion can and should. I have CPR, self defense, basic mechanical training, and more.

My ideal companion might be 22-39, male or female, someone who likes to read. If you like ruins and languages, even better. Roughly %50 of the time will be in hostels, %50 camping.

I'm riding a used Kawa Vulcan 500 LTD, at about 60 mph on paved roads, with occasional forays onto hard-packed dirt.
Date of departure: May 24th. I'm budgeting about $35 a day, mostly for gas.

One Month Too Early

I am making the same trip but cannot leave until late June (esrliest) or first week of July (best). Are your dates set in stone?

When I go, I will be on a GS1200. In no hurry and would like to take 3-4 weeks to get to Costa Rica. I can arrange places stay along much of the trip.

If you'd like to explore this more, give me a call. I am in California.

Good Luck.

Tom

Sudden emergency

I´ve had to deal with a friend´s illness, so the trip´s been postponed to 2008. Sorry guys, was looking forward to a nice relaxing cruise.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
