Currently in Erzurum, Turkey - Hopefully going to Iran, Failing that Georgia

Hi There,

I'm currently holed up in Erzurum in search of the elusive Iranian Visa before heading further East. If it never materialises I shall head north through Georgia, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. If anyone is passing through anytime soon it would be good to meet up.

Hopefully I will get the visa soon Yn Shallah!

Duncan

Hi Mehmet,

Maybe I will still be here when you come through! Hopefully not.

Today is a holiday in the UK, so I can't call Persian Voyages to find out what is going on. It seems that everyday is a holiday for some country! I just need to get used to sitting around rather than moving.

Going north looks like a visa nightmare but I have the feeling that I may be able to get them at the border.

Hi,

I'm aiming for Australia. I have read a blog of someone who did go into Burma recently on his bike.

My application for a visa has been submitted. Will just have to wait until the response comes back. Might head north to the Black Sea for a few days rather than sitting round feeling miserable in Erzurum. Fingers crossed Yn Shallah we shall be successful!

Hi, if you are looking for something to do while waiting for your visa try visiting the 'Road of Stones' at kemaliye ( very friendly place with cheapish hotel in centre) or travel the road from Bayburt to Caykara, a fun dirt road and on to Unzagol (not so cheap).
As part of a 2 month Black Sea / Balkan tour i spent 4 weeks in Turkey this summer and loved the place.
Enjoy your trip.

pissed off to be back
Andy

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
