Texas to Bolivia December '06-January '07

I'm planning a trip from Houston, Texas (where I live now) to Cochabamba, Bolivia (where I grew up) to start sometime in mid December 2006. The plan is a one-way trip to my parents house and then fly back. I'll either sell the bike there or keep it and return the next year and continue travelling. I've got four weeks vacation from work so it will be a relatively quick paced journey. I'm a native spanish speaker with a decent amount of travel experience in north and central america, although very little of it is on a motorcycle, so I'll be preparing the entire year.
I'd like to find someone to travel with. I'm 29 years old, I'd say I'm a low maintenance traveller, enjoy a beer or two, prefer a bed to camping, and can ride all day. I really like to meet people along the way and am good at starting a conversation with anybody. Just bought a '95 bmw r1100r specifically for this trip, so I'm really committed to following through.

Any advice is welcome, I'm trying not to overplan but would like to know if this schedule is realistic or if I need to ask for some extra time off work. Also if my assumption about major roads beign mostly paved is true, i.e. did I get the right type of bike.

Hello
I've been reading the many journals on HU trying to learn as much as possible regarding routes etc. It seems many travelers doing the americas go thru the baja but some have gone thru Texas or near by. The links below are some of those leaving from your area. They may offer ideas where to go and what to avoid. I am also in the formative stages of trip planning. . . many options at this time. Definitely would like a fellow riders company.
