Sydney-Daintree-Darwin-Alice via Tanami

Hi all,

Im heading North this week from Sydney. No strick plans but over the next 2 1/2 - 3 months im aiming for Cairns/Cooktown, across to Katherine and darwin then out to Halls creek to jump on the Tanami Track(road) down to Alice. then maybe up to birdsvill and back. head back to the flinders via strzelicki track and oodnadatta.

Not planning on too many big km days. plan to camp in between major centers and probably stay in hostels while staying put and resting at places like cairns/Darwin/Alice. Im hoping to take my time and explore a bit. Im keen to do some hiking/Diving/sight seeing all over the place.

Riding an XTZ660 so am looking forward to some less travelled (unsealed) roads.

If anyone wants to meet up or join me for a ride just drop me a line.

Cheers,
James

To Darwin via Oodnadatta track

Sounds like a good trip Jimmy, i rode up to Darwin Jun this year from Melbourne, i came up via the Oodnadatta track. It had not been maintained recently and was in parts, pretty bad. Patches of bad corrugations and sand build up on the edges, all made for an interesting trip on a packed up BMW GSA.
Take care and enjoy yourself

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
