Due to a change of plan from my original route, I plan to do this around this time. What are you doing after Mongolia? I'm planning on flying me and the bike to Bangkok, but need to research into prices etc.

I plan to leave around the same time as the mongol rally, mid July. Therefore hopefully plenty of help from others around driving their cars/bikes.

Lots of other like minded people too.

Hi Ollie and Andrew

Hi guys,
Sounds really good, seems like were be leaving at the same time, what are you riding? And are you thinking of doing it at a similar speed. I'm planning to do the same sort of route as 'kudu mongolia challenge' after Moscow. So you can check the route i'm thinking, see if it works for you.!!
Where do you live in the uk Ollie? I would like to go to Bangkok after mongolia but i think i'm going to try and sell the bike, if not just give someone the keys. Spent the last week fixing it, hope its good now, got my bike test tomorrow morning, then i'm good to go.!!
Neil.

Hey

Sorry i forgot rfothy,
Let me know what you think and do you live in the Uk aswell?

klausmong1 5 Apr 2013 14:13

Hi

I am leaving Vienna to Ulanbataar in June 25th.
Arriving in UB around Mid July ( 15-20)
Going over Odessa and Kazakhstan.

I will stay around UB till August 5th and then go home over lake Baikal, Moscow and Baltic countries back to Vienna

Rfothy 7 Apr 2013 17:22

Yeah that sounds like a good route, I will be riding a xt600e.
Ollie/Dedhar you flying from ulan bator? You researched into how much it will cost with the bike?

Dedhar 7 Apr 2013 18:26

Hi guys! After Mongolia I am riding through China to Laos with a group of others due to the cost and then on to Australia. I did also try to research flying my bike over China but I didn't have much luck in hearing back from air freight agencies. I'm currently based in Northampton, UK and the bike I'm most likely going to ride is a Yamaha Tenere XT660Z.
Due to dates for China I won't be leaving Mongolia until around mid Sept and will spend a few weeks in the country before hand.

Hi dedhar,
Sounds like are dates quite similar. I will be in ub at the begining of september. Do you have your visas for russia, kaz and mongolia yet.

I am a guy from Spain starting a RTW in May. I ride an R1200GS.

I plan to leave the 5th of May from Madrid. Here is the route (maybe you can't read Spanish, but you can see the map in that link):

La Ruta | MrHicks46 (click on the map to see it bigger)

The route and timing would be (simplified):

- Mid May to August: Central Asia and Siberia.
- September: Canada, Vancouver to Calgary, Rocky Mountains.
- October and November: USA mid-west.
- December and January: Mexico and Central America.
- February and March: Colombia, Ecuador and Peru.
- April and May: Bolivia, maybe Chile and the north of Argentina.
- Once in Argentina, depending on time spent, budget and my mood I will decide about going to Africa or going straight back home.

I think I will be entering Kazakhstan end of May - beginning of June, then Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan during June - beginning of July. Then back into Kazakhstan, and back into Russia.

I plan to obtain my visa for Mongolia in Russia and enter Mongolia at some point during July and stay there for 10-13 days.

Then back to Russia and maybe RoB during August.

Hope to see some people in the same route :thumbup1:

I may be interested

My name is Andris, and I may be wanting to join you.

The last year I rode as far as Turkey. And the year before that to Murmansk and Nordkap.
I raely like the idea to go east.

I ride a TDM 850 amd I am living in Stockholm.

Where in Sweden are you located?

nellyk003 11 Apr 2013 21:37

Hi Andris,
I live in Göteborg,

Andris 15 Apr 2013 21:20

Sorry for a late answer.
I tried to send a PM, but it seems as I need to write 5 post before that is allowed. :/

My name is Andris, I am 28 years old. I live and work in Stockholm. I love motorcykles and usualy take motorcykle trips during summers. But nothing as far away as Mongolia.

And I am interested in tagging along. If its okay. It is also probably a good idea to learn to know each other a little better.

I also have some questions.

I understand that you are going to Mongolia with bike, and continuing without?
My idea is going fourth and back on my bike.

What route are you taking? Via northen Sweden and Finland? I have good experience taking farry to Helsinki and then riding into Russia. Any other countrys except Russia and Kazakstan?

What is your budget for this ride? Are you camping or is it hotels?

I havent realy begun fixing any visas. I supose there is still time. What kind of visa do you have for Russia? Do you have a series of Hotels you are supposed to visit?

I am writing this in english because the forum is in english. I am fluent in Swedish, and I can some words in Russian.
