Spain to Turkey and Return July-Sept 2011

Hi we are currently in Salzburg, Austria having left
Spain in June and we are continuing to Turkey. Weather
has been rough through the Alps. Riding 2 new G650s BMWs
1 starter problem thus far, but BMW is responding rapidly.

We will spend a day with globebusters "discover our earth" rtw tour
then continue through Balkans and Greece returning via Italy, etc.

It would be great to meet fellow overlanders, we live in Buenos Aires
but are one Espanola and one North American.

Thanks to all of u who have responded, after bike repairs in Austria *starter on Elisa,s new G 650 and head gasket on mine we rode across Slovenia
and Croatia into Montenegro and soon we will cross Albania , Greece and
to Istanbul.

BMW has taken care of us.

We are really, really enjoying the sunny side of the Alps and it would be great to meet up with one or all of u.

Not sure how to arrange meeting but if u see 2 G 650s one red and one white with panniers and tail bags, that will be us. xfiltrate

Bitola, Macedonia

Wow, visit Bitola, Macedonia we are here now - (20 euro hotel/casino special) have breakfast and parking at a 4 star hotel for only 20 euros including room at 2 star. I broke even at the casino to top it all off. Young beautiful people all night clubs and sidewalk cafes.

Will be crossing into northern Greece today depending on "just 'hanging out''
factor we should be in Turkey in less than a week.

See U on the road ride hard, ride free xfiltrate

Goreme, Turkey

We are in Cappadocia.... Goreme to be exact having visited and camped

near the Hittite

ruins at Hattusa We are now in Goreme and have encountred the

first mass tourism since Istanbul Goreme has it all hot air ballooning

rental bikes 4 x 4 and hiking tours and much more it used to be some

cave dwellings and a small village that is all I remember from 1964

Until now especially inland and along the Black Sea coast people

we encounter are not accostomed to overlanders on touring

motorcycles they look at us as

either police or ambicious vendors carrying goods to market in rural

Turkey overlanding has just not caught on donkey carts

are in We have had 3 bad encouters with sheep dogs NO BITES beyond

our boots while cross

country on small paths indicated by GPS 3 narrow escapes these dogs

big very big and have steel barbed collars as protection from wolves

which I understand might also be a probem off road. headed to southern

coast in next day or two. xfiltrate

To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
