Hi Rachel,
I'll do it!
I've been meaning to do something like this for ages, and this could be just the kick-up-the-arse that I need.
It's a good time of year, weather wise, and I'll be in no rush.
Please, keep me posted.

Sounds great Rachel! Please let me know a bit more. I'm definately interested in Spain and depends on the rest. I can probably take just about 2 weeks off work. Don't know where everyone is based but its a possibility to meet at the UK HU travellers meeting to do some planning?

Hope to hear from you.
Sandi

Yes me too, looking a bit like a party setting off!
I've been planning a trip into north africa in oct on my bmw 80g/s.
Plan to plod thru spain to check out bike and kit for a couple of days then into morocco and meandering down towards the gambia for a lazy couple of days then make my way back. by the same route or other, depending on politics, enthusiasm, cash etc.
No concrete plans really just a lazy trip into new territory to experience a different way of life.
Done lots of continental biking but this is a first.

I am interested in this. I was intending to go touring in September, but October sounds OK. Like Sandi I can only make two weeks, but possibly three.

Have you thought about starting with the Portuguese travellers meeting at the end of September?

Is anyone going to the UK travellers meeting as suggested by Sandi? I have some commitments that weekend, but its not far so I could try to make some of it.

Anyone? Umm, we have 200 registered so far, expect around 225-250 people, so there will be lots of people to talk to!

I can't make it to the UK Meeting, but Susan will be there, and I'll be at the Portugal Meeting this year - last years was apparently a lot of fun, and great riding in the area with local guides. Excellent opportunity to meet up with some Portugese and Spanish riders and get local info.

See you there!

My girlfriend and I will be touring around Spain last three weeks of September. For my girlfriend it's her first bike trip on her own bike (BMW F650 GS). This trip is to be practice and prepping to go to more remote places.
On the back of our bikes we will have our rock climbing gear. We plan to ride from climbing site to climbing site. Tired of climbing, go riding. Tired of riding, go climbing. Relaxed camping inbetween.

I can't give exact dates and locations, but anyone who is interested to join in for a pleasant evening by the fire drop me an email. I'll pass you our mobile phone number then so that we can exchange last minute locations ;-)

Hi all, thank you ever so much for your notes and interest in the trip to Andalucia.

I am afraid I am not going to be able to do the trip. I have just returned from 6 weeks in Oz (the opportunity to do a house swap with someone living in Melbourne dropped in my lap) and now need to find work.

I managed to do a little biking whilst there (bike hire is NOT cheap) including two days along the Great Ocean Road, and back again, and then a trip up the Reefton in the Yarra Valley. Both great runs (although the quality of the tarmac along GOR is pretty poor) with great scenery and tricky bends. Just watch out for gum bark on the roads, though!

Given that so much interest has been expressed in the trip, maybe you guys should get together and see what you can arrange?

I will probably get down to Andalucia next Spring or Autumn (not that I am wishing my holiday away you understand).

Thanks again for your interest

Best wishes
Rachel

I'm still up for it. No real plans though except that I'll probably include the Portugal travellers meeting (24th - 26th Sept), but happy to fit in.

I'll probably catch up with you too Fireboomer. I'll be on an F650 GS as well (in Dakar trim).
