Southern Baja, La Paz - then south... tomorrow (1st October)

Hello,

I'm arriving in La Paz, Baja tomorrow (1st October) & wanted to know if anyone else is in the area? I have been riding with Uggawish but it's just been too hot for him (40 degrees C!) & so he'll be returning north soon as he's craving some air conditioned comfort.

I'll be heading south towards Central America after a quick tour of southern Baja & getting my bike docs & passport stamped.

Once I get the ferry across to Mazatlan I'll be heading south hoping to catch up with Crappybiker & Gugie1 somewhere along the road.

Cheers,

Smudger

Smudger,

I'm right in thinking I met you at HUBB Canada west? Dom here. Wow you're already in Mexico. I'm in Californian and won't be in Baja for another month. Am meeting up with Irish Patrick next week in Utah at Salf flats world speed championships.

looks like you're going to be a whole month ahead of me all the way.

Drive safe.

Smudger,
We are currently in Guanajuato for a few days. Head up to Durango from Mazatlan, an amazing twisty road into the mountains. We want to head south into Oaxaca; however need to do some research on what roads are open after all the landslides they had.

Hello Chaps,

Dom, yep we met in Nakusp. I toured America on the way up & have driven across it twice before so I couldn't justify the extra $$$'s in hanging around any longer, despite how much I love the place! Spent 9 weeks there this time when I really should have been heading south.

Daryll - looks like I can get all the docs I require & my passport stamped in La Paz but the immigration office doesn't open weekends so I'm on the southern coast at the moment & will head back next week before getting the ferry across & slowly catching up with you guys.

Take care,

Brian

I'm in Chapala for a few days, waiting for some new 14t front sprockets to clear customs and once they get delivered we will be heading out. Stay in touch.

Back in La Paz & have yet to melt which is a bonus!

Paperwork for the bike & immigration sorted. Ferry booked for the night sailing to Mazatlan on the 5th.

Heading first to Durango for the road up there & the climate as it'll be nice to cool off for a few days & then south toward Oaxaca.

Looking forward to catching up. As ever, keep me informed of your whereabouts & I'll do the same.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
