Uk - Kenya Feb/March 2014

Hi All,

Firstly apologies for this being a thread about overland travel in a car and not on a bike!! I do hope this is okay - if not just let me know, no hard feelings. It just appears that this site is the place to be for overland travel.

Basically I'm planning a trip from the UK to Kenya hopefully leaving mid feb 2014, but can be pushed back a bit later. I plan to drive through Europe to Turkey, take the ferry to Alex, Egypt then drive through N Sudan and Ethiopia before arriving in Kenya. I expect to do this over no more than 8 weeks, so reasonably quick. I have work commitments in Nairobi, so can't take too long.

I have been planning this for some time including preparing my Defender 110 for the trip. I now have a problem my travel companion can no longer come along. So, it's pretty short notice, but if anybody is interested in joining me please get in touch - there is a spare seat!

I am accommodating and the route can certainly be altered if you want to see places en-route. The car is well prepared (by myself) with an emphasis on reliability. I have camping and cooking kit, so you wouldn't need to worry about that. I'm quite young at 24 and ideally would be looking for somebody of similar age, though I'm not all that fussed as long as we get on

Thanks a lot,
Jack

Hi Jack

I sent you an e-mail. Not sure if it goes through. However I am doing the same route with a 4x4 car almost the same time you are planning to. My intention is to start 25th of february 2014. Please drop a line here or send a PM if you are interested to plan parts of the route together.

Cheers
Lukas

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
