Cool SOUTH AMERICA dream journey (ideally Argentina)!!!!! December meet-up???

My BF is leaving to ride down via motorcycle to South America today (leaving from San Francisco) He's riding with bro to Ensenada, then towards Central America (maybe thru Mexico City/Oaxaca) Anyways, he wants to ride ALL the way down to Ushuaia Argentina! He's looking for a riding companion or a group to join at some point (vs going solo) He speaks Spanish FLUENTLY and is riding a 02 KLR 650.

* The plan is to be in Lima or Cuzco, Peru for Xmas/New Years holidays, and then head down towards Argentina/Chile from there mid-January.

If you or anyone else is looking for the same, please let me know! Any other tips/advice re: route & budgeting for this dream journey HIGHLY appreciated!

Routes I'd reccomend not to be missed if he has the time are:
-Colombia - (south of Cali) Popayán-San Agustín-Tierradentro-Popayán
-Ecuador - Quilotoa Loop (just south of Quito)
-Peru - Route from Trujillo through the Cordilleras Blancas (north-east of Lima)(there's a sealed road and a dirt road, just ask locals, the dirt road is much more spectacular!)
All of these are unsealed routes used quite a lot by bikers touring down here, and they are all amazing routes.
And to avoid:
-Bolivia - Oruru south to Uyuni, a baaad dirt road, broke my rack to s##t, locals tell you lots of petrol stations, there is not... Via Potosí from La Paz is much easier to get to Uyuní for the salt flats.
Enjoy!

Good Luck!

Hey, wish your BF good luck on his trip! Hopefully he´ll make it to Lima for Xmas.

Where is he right now?, I imagine some place in Central America, if he is still close to Mexico City maybe we can catch up for a couple s.

Cheers!

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
