south america 4-6 months july/august 2006

Im a 24 year old male, planning my first overland trip. Previous travelling experience, but not on a motorcycle.

Looking to start in july/august 2006, either on my own or with company, by flying to venezuela, then head south through brasil, argentina to tierra del fuego, north through chile/andes, bolivia, peru, ecuador, fly out of quito, or up through columbia and fly back from venezuela.
taking in the sights and sounds along the way.
Looking to take 4-6 months over the trip. Returning around december/january.
I am preparing the bike now, and starting to plan the details(which are not set in stone yet), open to suggestions and combined planning if your interested, in all of or part of the trip.

Ginger
What bike do you have, or you think buying?
South america is not expensive for pound or euro savers.
Try to assist to the Horizons meeting in Viedma(Argentina) early december heading later to the new year party in Ushuaia.
I think a Dommi or a F-650 would be a great choice for you.

Hi KH,
Ive got an 89 dominator, with a larger acerbis tank, slowly away preparing it.
is the meet in viedma for this year, or is it an annual event?
Ive got an idea for the prices, I was in argentina for 6 months in 2003, and is said to be the most expensive country in south america, so there will be a good exchange rate alround I think.

cheers for the feedback.

si.

Viedma is an annual event, this is the third coming up - see the Meetings link on the left.

Si
Argentina is not the most expensive country now,it was before 2002.I think Chile is on top of all and Uruguay on 2nd.But there was a post a few month ago from Rene Cormier(Canadian)comparing all the average costs of all the countrys he travell trough.
Hope seeing you in Viedma!
KH
