Lightbulb Silk Road Adventure 2014

Hi everyone.

We have a dream to find footsteps of the ancient Silk Road.
We have a dream to visit 16 countries in 2 months and pass Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
We have a dream to travel across the steppe, the deserts, mountains and the seas.
We have a dream to discover places where tourists are seldom and challenges are often.

… and we want to share that dream with a group of crazy people who are willing to join us for the whole trip or who want to help me to cross even a part of our way.

We are looking for a dream team to travel to the Central Asia. Our plan is to visit the following places: Warsaw (Poland) – Kiev- Crimea (Ukraine) – Volgograd (former Stalingrad) (Russia) – Baikonur cosmodrome, Aral sea (Kazakhstan) – Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara (Uzbekistan) – Dushanbe, Pamir mountains (Tajikistan) – Pamir (Kyrgystan) - Mary, Asgabad, Turkmenbasy (Turkmenistan) – Baku (Azerbaijan) – Tbilisi, Caucasus mountains (Georgia) – Yerevan (Armenia) – Ararat mountain, Istambul (Turkey) – Sofia (Bulgaria) - Beograd (Serbia) – Budapest (Hungary) – Bratislava (Slovakia) – Warsaw.

During the trip there will be an opportunity to walk across the most beautiful mountains in the world (Tien-Shan, Pamir, Caucasus) and swim in the Black and Caspian seas. We want to ride on the second highiest road in the world - Pamir Highway (up to 4600 m).

We want to see great historic places like Volgograd – where the story of the mankind has changed and places where humans destroyed the natural environment like Aral sea. But first of all I want to walk across the ancient Silk Road cities: Samarkand, Bukhara, Mery, Istambul, Tashkent and others.

This is our dream.

We are looking for:
- A group of 5-8 passionate persons who want to join us for 2 months – initially from 1st of May to the end of June 2014 and will actively help us to arrange the challenge. There are a lot of things that need to be thought through and organized.
- any other motorcyclists who want to help us or to travel with us through specific countries for even a part of the road.
- All friends from Poland, Ukraine, Russia , Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgystan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Armenia, Turkey, Bulgaria, Serbia, Hungary, Slovakia or any other country in the world, to help us with the organization (e.g. information about accommodation, interesting places, local situation, help with visas etc). I will be more than happy to meet you during the journey.

If you are interested in joining us, please do not hesitate to ask us about the details. We appreciate any contact and I do believe that we can write a great story together.

more details about our dream you can find on our website Silk Road Adventure

Hello Janusz

I would be interested, however, I am afraid I have time off from the 1st of June, not May, so if that is fixed, I won't be able to join.

In fact I have from the 1st of June till 15 October

Cheers

Don

Hi Dan

It would be good to join you to the team. Actually our plans are quite fluent. First timeline is very initial and was based on assumption that we want to pass deserts before extreme summer temperatures. On the other hand we must confirm conditions in the high mountains. We'd like to ride by the Pamir Highway and we can expect that in early June there will be a lot of snow.
Let me reach you out next week - Kasia (my peer) will be back from sailing and we can arrange a chat or call.

best
Yanus

Hi!
Still can't be sure if this trip will be possible for me so I wanted some (the most important) info about the trip: how much do you think, or you expect, such a trip could cost?

Silk Road Adventure - December status

Hi all
let me provide you current status:
firstly Don decided to follow his own way - he has 4 months to plan the trip and it is really comfortable situation.
secondly our core team covers me and Kasia. Stojan from Croatia and Mike from UK are thinking about joining the team.

We are investigating the visas process and probably we had to adapt our route plan because of limits in Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan.
and ... almost 160 days to departure.

Project is still alive. We work with my partners Kasia and Stojan to finalize the details.
after several discussions we agreed some adjustments to the plan and now route looks like that:

It's around 21 000 km across all Stans. We start 17th of May from Warsaw, Poland and finish around end of July.
Detailed route drawing you will find here: Main map | Silk Road Adventure Project

probably we will adjust our route a little.
It's because of potential issues with deposit in Azerbaijan and we will spend more time in Kazakhstan. I will keep you posted about our final plans.
