Short Bimble - UK to South of France - 3rd August

A bit short notice but what the hell....

Decided to go back to the South of France next week and have a look at this Route Napoleon I have heard so much about.

Booked SeaFrance ferry for 3rd August returning a week later.(£37 return)

Traveling solo at the moment, but happy ride with others.

Planning on camping... but if it starts pouring it down :stormy:like it did last time.. may do B&B.

Whilst not in the RTW category - its a nice run out.

Pete,

Like wise.
I still owe you a drink - so if/when we meet again I will oblige.

I got home to a letter from the police telling me how much they appreciated my photograph on one of their safety camera's (along with the option to be re-educated as I was not going 'that' fast.)

A letter from the Tax man asking all kinds of personal questions.

News that the fabric of UK society had crumbled in London as people run amok and were burning things down.

And finally a conversation with my wife who believed I was not alone whilst in France (based on the fact I had taken an additional mobile phone, taken untraceable beer tokens, a separate memory card for the camera and the trip was at such short notice it was impossible for her to join me)

All in all I think I should have stayed on the road.

:scooter:

Any chance I can gate crash that wedding in Italy next week ?

I'll set off now before the rioters travel 200 miles North. I'll claim the trip as a tax write off, I can't go above 45 miles per hour and I may bring Doris - who you failed to spot when we met as she was hiding in the top box.

This is a lovely route, and you should get some nice weather as well. If I wasn't over in Germany at the moment I might have joined you. I hope you have a great time brother.:thumbup1:

Italy

Whilst i am in favour of the more the merrier, the bride of the party is a bit stressed at the mo....(women and weddings are apparently stressful).
I have also found out the accommodation is over £800 for the week. And i have a funeral next week so not sure what day i am heading out.
So i must give a raincheck on the ride at the mo!!!!!( she also said "can i vouch for you not being a nutter?) lol

Apart from that I would tell the police that your doris was riding your bike. And you are a spy for the British government and you cant tell her anymore or you will have to kill her!! and it is because you went abroad at such short notice, that the so called fabric of society has crumbled. That should sort out your predicament.
Hope it was a good photo.....lol. (you speed hooligan)What speed?

I will catch up with you though, Not cause i'm tight and want that drink back. But you seemed to be able to hold a conversation without being bolshy.
Post when you are having your next ride out and with my current situation (between jobs) I will more than likely join you.

Pete

Pete,

OK - whilst the suggestion of joining you was a little tongue in cheek, next time someone you know gets married in a far off country, and are open to some strange bloke in leathers eating all the food at the reception - give us a shout. :innocent:. I'm not a nutter... not since the incident I mentioned to you in the senile ward at hospital.

As for speeding - I went through the camera at 36mph -I am full of remorse about it - I've got a re education thing booked now for October. I will be sure to prostrate myself before everyone and tell of the shame I feel.
I won't mention that 25 people in the room all paying £75 adds up to nice little earner for the council/police/government. That would be wrong of me. I certainly won't mention what speed I was doing 10 meters before the camera (ceramic brakes are good, aren't they ? - wish they were just about 6mph better though)

At least my license will still be clean for HUBB meeting next month (see how I got the thread back toward the HUBB there)

Ride safe - and remember there are 1000's of people out there, who you haven't met yet, trying to kill you as you ride down the road. Usually in a Volvo and whilst wondering being 85 years old effects their driving ability

Steve
