Shipping Dili to Darwin Dec 2013/Jan 2014
 

We are planning to ship one bike from Dili in East Timor to Darwin in Australia at the end of December/Early January and looking for other motorbikes to share the container.

As it seems to be the only current option we plan to use the TOLL group. The current schedule on their website shows the 16th December 2013 as the last shipment which is too early for us. I am emailing today to see if there are any later shipments in December [maybe not as it falls over the Christmas period] and if they have the schedule for January.

First/second week in January is probably the ideal time for us anyway. Is there anybody around that wants to ship their bike around the same time? I think one container can fit four bikes. We've heard sharing the container reduces the costs so definitely looking to share if there is anyone around at the same time?

We're a little flexible on times as we don't actually know exactly when we will get to East Timor - currently in Medan waiting for the bike to arrive from Butterworth.

I would not put too much planning to their schedule yet, because schedules change all the time…
When you ship from Dili to Darwin, you need to be really flexible with your schedule and clean your bike properly.

Thanks Hemuli, very useful for us, we keep an eye on your blog. We've read alot about the shipping dates changing so fully expecting it - we're aiming for the 26th December hopefully.

Where did you stay in Darwin? Is it easy enough to get where you needed to with public transport or walking?
