Shanghai/China anyone?
 

Hi
I live in Shanghai and want to travel inland by motorbike. I have not decided where besides 'going east' and end up either in Tibet or in Laos.
Is there anyone in Shanghai with prior riding adventure experience who'd like to plan this trip?

I am currently in kumux just south east of urumqi awaiting parts...I have been told by locals that the route to laos is not passable this time of year, and was looking at putting my bike on a train down toKunming??
you are welcome to join me for this leg of the journey if it is passable but i hold a hard pace.. other wise its train time for me..good luck Jake:thumbup1:

I'm looking at going in the spring April May - so if you're not going till then keep in touch. Unlike you however I'm not in China now so I'm trying to research whats involvled in buying a bike there, getting a license, and the proper plates - which is going to be an adventure in itself. If you have any info on this I'd appreciated it. Of course, othes have told be not to worry about the bureaucracy and just hop on a bike and go which I'm sure would definately add to the adventure if I was caught or got in an accident.
