thanks for the replys, I´m now in Oruro, heading to Potosi for a couple of days. Andy and Maya, are you going through there on the way down to Argentina or have you already been? Mike, maybe see you further down the road in Argentina.

Christy - cbxtc6 is right. I´m in Sucre right now a short and beautiful ride from Potosi. Jeremiah arrived a day ago and the old Doc is coming together. We´ll be here for a few days and believe me this is a town worth checking out and enjoying the scenery, excellent and inexepensive food and gemte muy simpatico. We´re at a hotel just a few blocks from the main plaza. leave a note and come into town. There´s a lot to see in Bolivia and the Salar is definately top on my list..

oh forgot to mention. ran into Andy and Maya again for the second time on their way to Potosi. They told me they were heading onward toward Tarija.. so enjoy Potosi, the Casa de Moneda and head to Sucre... it´s warmer and the bike likes it better...!

Any of you ridden the Death Road to La Paz? I just saw a TV show about it, and for some reason, it's an attractive idea. It's the challenge, I suppose.

I gave my KLR the day off yesterday and did that road on a mountain bike. In the downhill direction The road is actually in much better shape than other gravel roads I have ridden this trip. The drop offs can be intimidating of course, but it would be no problem on a motorcycle. The amazing thing is that you lose over 3600m of elevation in 65km, and 6km of the road is uphill, so it is really more than that. From snowcapped mountains to jungle in that distance, highly recommended.
