Senegal - Cape Town starting Dec '05

Hi, I am riding a BMW GS650 Dakar from Senegal to Cape Town starting the beginning of December.

It's a fast trip taking 6-8 weeks through Mali and Burkina Faso to Ghana and then on down the west side.

Look forward to hearing from anybody who's interested in hooking up along the way or joining me for all or part of the journey...

Rick

Looking forward to see you here in Brazzaville with Christmas... will organise a good party for you... gazelles optional...

cheers/jef

Not leaving before the 10th, Jef, so better make that a New Year's party. The more gazelles the better...

Hi Rick, we are out at N'Gor in Dakar if your around and fancy a drink, we are heading south from here on a BM and KTM and I keep thinking of heading down to Capetown but 6 to 8 weeks sounds awfully fast to me, just met two Belgians who came up that way and its taken 7 months but they were taking their time.

Hey Rick, I live in Pretoria South Africa, if you are coming down on the west coast you are obvciously planing on riding through Angola and Namibia. if possible let me know when, exactly, you will be in this area, and what your rout through SA will be, are you gona stick to the coast, i.e. the Richtersveld? as to the short period, it is short but doable. I once rode (on 4 wheels - unfortunatly) from Dar es Salam on the East Coast to Pretoria in 3 days (2 nights) so you can cover good distance even in Africa. Even if we dont hook up for a drink, please let us know how the route along the west coast went - ever changing circumstances. Regards.

I am headed on the opposite direction, leaving Nigeria tomorrow (23rd) and hopefully getting to Accra before Xmas eve. I will be heading back to Lagos on the January 2nd. My e-mail is: lcodinoatyahoodotcom. Get in touch if we coincide while in Ghana. In case we cross paths, I will be riding an Aprilia Tuareg 600 with little soft luggage, no panniers.

Cheers. Luciano.

Hi Guys

Thanx for the replies.

The bike shipment got delayed and I didn't get away from Dakar until New Year. I was also delayed in Burkina Faso for a week by a... goat! I am now in Conotou heading to Nigeria tomorrow. Hope to make CT in 4-6 weeks.

Anyone know if you can get a Cameroonian visa in Calabar?

Rick
