Seeking Travel Buddy: Brussels - Mumbai/New Delhi

Hi there,

I am planning a trip in April - to leave from Brussels to Mumbai (over 4 weeks). I have a Honda Transalp which is getting geared up in the garage for the trip. I was planning to go solo, which may just be the case if I cant find someone.

I will add a link to this post with more information on the route and other details.

I plan to ship the bike back from Mumbai or am also looking for anyone that may be interested in riding back to Brussels.

This may just be the ride of a lifetime for someone out there.

Cheers

V

Hi Vishal,
I would be very interested in possibly joining you on your trip to Mumbai in April.
What route would you be taking, would it be camping and is 4 weeks enough time?

Cheers Mick

With all due respect you ain't doing that in 4 weeks unless you don't want to see anything and ride for 12 hours a day and/or ride a 100 mph, thats a 10k mile trip.

Cheers
Pete

Hi Mick

Thats great to hear. 4 weeks is actually farily doable, this is assuming that we do about 350 kms a day, which may not sound like much but once we are into turkey and after 350 may be difficult.
I am planning to take off for 4-5 weeks off work which should be enough. I have read about a couple of guys from Belgium, who did it in 4-5 weeks on bikes they bought in south India.

About the camping part, I belive that would be minimal, perhaps places around turkey, Iran and Pakistan, none the less I am packing my tent and sleeping bag.

I would prefer staying in cheap hotels, since would really need a decent nights sleep. :).

Let me know what you think, and will send you my contact details.

Send me your email address also and will send you the route plan etc...

Have not yet gotten around putting the website up yet.

Cheers
Vishal

Trip can be done easily in that time. I did it from the UK to Mumbai in August 1995. It took me 24 days, 3 of which were rest days to cover the 7000 miles. Ignore the doom merchants.

Hi vishal,

The plan looks good for me, with cheap hotels/camping.

I currently have a BMW F800GS, 2008 and 25,000 miles on the clock, which is a bit tall, but a low seat sorted that!

The luggage is the BMW hard plastic, which can be locked on to the bike, don't think I want to go to the expense of aluminium type.

I have friends in Mol (Belgium) so might be an idea to meet up.

you can mail me at mike85433@googelmail.com

cheers Mick

OK, please keep us posted of how your 333 mile a day average ( not that I believe you can get to Bombay in 7000 miles, it took me 10000 to get to Goa) works out across Iran and Pak with escorts and the ride down the "motorways" from Wagah will keep you on your toes at 100 mph.

On a side not I take it you've sorted Iran/Pak visas?

I think you got lost en-route. 10000miles!! Actually. the reason I did 7000 miles was because I took several detours through Europe. In fact, I believe from reading a number of posts on here, New Delhi overland is approx 10000K, 6000 miles, which sounds about right to me.

Always someone telling you it can't be done. Don't know where you get 10000miles from, Kilometers sounds about right. I'm interested in this route too. I'm doing similar in June.

Yes thats about right, I was estimating about 10k km with some detours on the way. Especially there are some pretty scenic routes around Europe and Iran so with that accounted for it would be about 10k. or 6k miles.

So once again, this can still be done in 4 weeks, with lots of opportunities to enjoy the route and not rushing it.

Cheers
