Seeking other travellers in Europe

Hi guys,

My girlfriend and I are two-up on a DR650. We left Heathrow, London mid March, have been around Ireland and at the time of writing are heading south along the west coast of France to Spain.

We'll likely go anti-clockwise around Spain (including Portugal), then see Italy, Switzerland, South Germany, Austria, Czech, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia, Bosnia, Serbia, Macedonia, Albania, Greece, Turkey...
(then Georgia, Azerbaijan, ferry over the Caspain sea, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakstan, Kyrgyzstan, and so on until SE asia).

We don't have a set agenda, other than reaching Turkey around mid August.

We're really keen to meet other motorcyclists in Europe to travel with.

Reply back, PM me here or follow our blog at www.facebook.com/ophroad

Looking forward to having a

Jaykay

In France and Spain, I would stop in MC shops and ask about "local" rallies, events, meetings and such. I randomly ran into TWO such events in the South of France (April). Who knows what you might find. One rally had about 1000riders from all over France ... the other only a few hundred.

Very welcoming (Brit plates on bike) Most are just there for the weekend, but a few were traveling. South of France and Pyrennes get LOTS of bikers from EU, UK and beyond. The local shops usually know the scene and I saw poster advertising rallies. Remember, France has 5 times as many bikes as UK.

They are out there! Better if you speak French for finding travel partners.
Also, lots of riders cross from S. Spain on Ferry to Morocco. Simple and easy trip to make ... instant traverse into a bizarre new world.

I'll be there

I leave UK on 8th Aug solo and hit Turkey, Istanbul 14th August where I meet my wife. Then travel around for 2 weeks inc Georgia, before taking a week to travel back to UK. 2up / camping.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
