Are you going to Mongolia this summer

Maybe you're already on your way.

Hi all, there’s a few of us heading for Mongolia this summer.
How about we keep track of each other on one thread on this hubb?
I'm aiming to get the ferry from dover 1st weekish in June.
Things like, current location and were you’re heading next. If you make a town stop for laundry service, which bar are you drinking in.
Would you like to exchange phone numbers as text messaging is pretty global where as Internet access may not always be.

phone numbers and email by private message off course.

Hi Togston, working out my route at this very moment.
On the Dover ferry 11th June. Making tracks to Volgograd via Poznan, cross into Kazahkstan on or around the 22nd June. heading down to Uzbekistan for the 25th June. Sounds like I will be 10 days behind you.

Hi Dean

After much preparation to do Mongolia in 2011, I've had to put my plans on hold for a year or maybe two due to work commitments.

The budget we worked out was £4500 plus visa and insurance costs for a part camping, part hotel trip. Highly dependant on the price of fuel which, of course, may change.

Can give you a more detailed breakdown if you need it.

Best

Paul

Mongolia, Stans, China to Laos

I'm waiting to get my last few visas and should be riding through Germany in the first week of June. Basic route - Poland, Ukraine, Russia, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan. Enter China last week of August, through Tibet into Yunnan, exiting at Mohan, Laos.

Keep me in the loop, a friendly now and then is always welcome.

on the way east

Hi All,

I am now in Almaty and plan to be in Barnaul on the 1st of June. From there I will make my way towards Mongolia, entering via Tsagaannuur most likely between the 4th and 6th of June 2011.

Is somebody on the same schedule? I am travelling alone and it would be great to do the tougher parts of Mongolia with some company.

Thanks and best regards
Holger

On my way

Hi all,

Already on the road, in Innsbruck right now. I will also be headed towards Mongolia, although I may end up not having time to enter. I'm riding via Eastern Europe and Turkey, then taking the ferry to Russia-then will be going through central asia via Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, then up through Kazakhstan.

I've already been in contact with Rich and if anyone else is taking a similar route drop me a line,

Jake

Hi chaps
Riding solo on pavement from Estonia to Vladivostok this summer on old Transalp. Timing is 11July to about 20August. Depending on schedule and how shagged out bike's running gear is, might also drop down into Mongolia for a short while. Currently have visa applications for Russia and Mongolia in progress.

Look out for nasty looking black TA with UK plate with a couple of bags tied to the pillion seat. Rider doesn't look too good either.
cheers
Chris

Hi guys,

At the end of the next week we (my wife and I) will go, our count down has started – 11 days...
On 29 May we will leave from Italy, then Eastern Europe, Siberia and, by the last week of June, we hope to arrive to the mongolian border.
In Ulaanbaatar depending on weather and mongolian “road” conditions we will decide our path.
So, on the road if you will see two on a “large and orange” KTM 990 with italian plate there are many chances that we will.

Best

Fabrizio
