Australia to IOM TT 2007

In 2007 the IOM TT has its centanary. I'm thinking of going. But I don't just want to fly there and ride. Oh no. Jet lag. And look at all that ridin there is to be had.

So leave Jan 2007. Get on bike in India and ride. Nepal, Paki, Iran and Morocco. With short bits in Greece, Italy, France, Spain then Britian and onto the ferry to the IOM. Going on past peoples trips - 6 months $10,000 minimum.

So, what interest? In ridin up to the IOMTT.

Sounds like a good plan Frank. Just be aware though that both sailings on the steam packet ( racket ) and accomadation on the Isle are fast booking up. Although camping shouldn't be a problem. I know this because I began to make plans a few months back to crate the Guzzi up and attend for 07 as well. But thought better of it later on. Seeing as I have alredy attended in both 97 and 02 ( on the Guzzi ). I am aware of a number of other Aussie going across, so you should hear some familar accents.
Hope it goes well,
Graeme.

Plan A was India etc

Unfortunatly it is winer up there then ... so being a warm person I think I'll try to avoid that snown and ice stuff. Think the two kiwis maybe still going that way. But I've heard nothing from them other than their original post.

So Plans B-D are Africa based ... summer = warmth. And then return through to India?

Email me if your more than 75% interested? You may like to do the African section and then fly back home, or fly to the UK and ride back to India... Note that booking on the ferry now for 2007 would be fairly full!

Register at this forum and ask about ferry tickets, the locals here were kind enough to help me out when I considered going to the IOM this year.
Decided not too, doing South Africa instead.

The local Manx folk will doubtless be able to source you tickets.

Cheers: Jaq.

You must be joking ! I have many friends in the Isle of Man since I have been going since 1980 and Marshalled from 1986, they are treated by the Steam Packet Co just as bad as the rest of us. The SPC are trying to stretch my holiday from 2weeks to 3, and still can't give me a price for my van (to carry dirt bikes) they say it will be 'around' £400 return! last year, same van £286 return....they are killing the TT....judging by demand camping may also be a problem.....so wild camping may have to be a possibility....Good luck

The Manx people on the forum must have liked me I guess.

I joined their forum, introduced myself and politely asked a few questions.
At least a half a dozen people offered me accomodation.
A couple of people offered help with tickets.

This was some months ago.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
