San Francisco to Argentina - mid 2010

Hi everyone,

Getting back into action again, planning a trip to Argentina. I live in San Francisco and have contacts throughout Mexico and Central America. I also speak spanish. Anyone heading into this direction July/August 2010?

As it looks like the bike will be either a KLR 650 or BMW GS 800.

Hey there,

I'm just getting my teeth into the planning part of a similar trip, I'm aiming to leave Calgary,Alberta in October or early Nov 2010 on a KLR. It will be my third time through the US and MX and second time to ushuiaa. Maybe our paths will cross?

Mike

Hey Mike,

I was planning on leaving a bit earlier but could be delayed.
Stay in touch and we could meet in Mexico since your path not necessarily leads thru San Fran.

Awesome

Hey Novissma,

We should stay in touch for sure. We seem more or less in the same time frame. I can tell you from past experience it is worth it to ride with somebody through central america. Are you going to check out the Copper Canyon in Chihuahua?

Mike

Yeah it is the same dude, refresh my memory, send me a message sometime.
Is this your first time south?

How long are you guys planning on going for? I live in Cochrane AB, soon to be Canmore AB and have contemplated this trip for a while now.

olyflyer 16 Jan 2010 01:35

Hi guys

I'm planning on heading out to Burning Man (Aug/Sept) in Nevada, then start heading down to South America from there, might meet up with you along the way

Michael 79 16 Jan 2010 23:48

Where are you leaving from?...I've a thought to head to burning man and leave my bike down somewhere warm so I don't get trapped by snow leaving for S.A. in Novemeber.

Hi Mike,

I was living in Mexico for many years and never made it to Copper Canyon.
Would be definitely on my route since it is not a big detour coming from the States.

I'm aiming to be in South America for at least 4 months, I'm looking to ship to Africa and continue back up after that. We should have a pint if you're cochrane, I live in Bowness.

Novissma- I wonder if the Sierra MAdres get snow in November? It might be cold in Creel.
