topo ferry

Doug,

I'm planning a similar trip to Panama from San Diego but not until the end of November. Last time I rode the ferry from Topo to La Paz we slept on the boat and docked at 6:00 AM ready to ride Baja. There's a good hotel just as you come into Topo from the ferry landing. Don't remember the name but if you have gps try 25 degrees, 36', 00.07" N and 109 degrees, 03' 09.29" W. Cheers

Am I understanding this correctly ? you are leaving San Diego US on the 4 of october and plan on arriving in Ushuaia on the 14 of december ?

That's what I call an appetite for miles !

I'm planing to leave montreal on the 17th of october on my KLR all the way down to Ushuaia. My idea was to reach it before april.

I guess I might meet you on your way up ;)

Dear Friends,
Hope to meet you guys somewhere in S. America next year. My plan is to start in early Feb from Cali, Colombo, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Argentina, Chile, Argentina, and return up North through Argentina, Chile, Peru, Ecuador and Colombia. All in about 3 - 4 months trip.
BTW, I intend to buy a registered bike in Cali, Colombia. Has anyone done this before? I learn that it is possible. Appreciate any feed back from anyone who have done this, before I commit anything stupid.

Hi Doug, should be wandering between BA and the Patagonian Cone in Nov/early Dec. Going to the HU meet at Viedma? Ride safe.

Good to hear others are taking off when I HOPE to in October.

Still have a few issues I'm working on. Main one currently being how do I get to the US/MEX border... Weather wise my window is closing fast!

I'll be riding a XR650R and looking for the adventerous route down. Starting with familiar grounds in Baja then searching out interesting towns, roads, and places on the way south with a loose schedule but definite time frame. If I only get to Panama I'll store bike and return later to continue south, etc.

Bike is now near 100% aside from some testing. I'm starting with packing and testing this week.

I'd be willing to lend a helping hand or meet over food or a few days of travel. If anybody wants PM me and I can provide contact details.

Quinn
