Smile South America April/May 2011

Hola amigos!

We are two Australian sisters, 20 and 23, who will be heading over to either Santiago or Buenos Aires in April/May 2011 and are seeking fun travel companions. We haven't made an itinerary yet and are flexible with dates and everything else.. we would love to find other eager travellers for our journey who love adventure. I speak and bit of Spanish so hopefully this will help along the way..

Anyone interested??

Adventures!

Hi, yep I'm totally keen for adventures! I'm British, 25, will be in Buenos Aires in early April, riding a loop down to Tierra del Fuego then up through Chile, eventually hoping to go all the way to Alaska. The more stories I can come away with the better! Feel like a swim off the coast of the southernmost city in the world?

I assume, given the nature of the forum, that you are both thinking of riding? Are you shipping the bikes in or buying them in South America?

I'll still be there

Pyrd, Dominique,

I'll still be there, hopefully on a Dr650. Speak Spanish at the conversational level, work with the sole goal of travel, and have no dead lines. I ran a backpacking jaunt through S.A for 11 weeks the summer of 2008, and have been dying to go back since. I place to arrive in B.A. this weekend. I'm 24, American/Canadian. Keep it touch? I'll bring my swim suit.

p.s. Pyrd, I'm currently in Fairbanks Alaska, it's a toasty -10*C. Was -25*C Two days ago.

Team!

Looks like we might have a team! I think I'm on a slightly more truncated timetable than you guys (I have to be in Anchorage by August 9th - I calculated something like 300miles a day, but only every other day) nevertheless, hopefully we can all get together for a bit if I can't convince you to come with the whole way - as Al said, keep in touch.

-25 Celsius sounds like a bloody disaster as far as I'm concerned! I'm told it heats up to an average of -0.5 by August... possibly swimable? also possibly a good way to get hypothermia! Still keen though.

Temperature in AK

Pyrd,

The average temp in August in Anchorage is close to +15* C. Don't worry! It get's warmer as you head inland as well!

SA ride

Hey guys,

sounds like a good group, i am 25 from the US and am trying to figure out a game plan as well, Pyrd your plan sounds awesome, dont really have a anything figured out for sure but i was thinking of starting in BA in march, going down to Ushuaia and heading north. would love to make it all the way to Alaska but 6 months might be pushing it for me but i could probably juggle things around. I really want to stop in Peru and run up to Macchu Picchu tho.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
