RTWs on a Sportster

Hi everyone,

I am new(ly registered) to the site and I would like to as your help. There are not too many posts about RTWs on a Sportster, although I know it have been done. I am planning to do the trip myself and considering to use my already awailable Sportster 883 Low. Could you guide me to those travellers (websites, e-mails), so I could connect them and ask all those annoying questions?

I appreciate your help.

Zolly

Jan,

Just browsed through your homepage and realized that you HAD a Sporti! Great rides you made too!
Got to go now to a day-trip to Cserhát (vendégváró.hu - Around Cserhát, Hollókõ and Szécsény, but I will have some questions.

Ride safe.

Zoltan

Sportsters

Yes, I use to have a Sportster. Actually, I had a few, a KH900, the grandfather of the Sportster ;-), a 883 Hugger and a "plain" 883.
Very nice bikes and, since they have a better frame for two up and less vibration in the latest models, I may buy one again some day.
The main reason I sold the last Sportster was that my wife and children didn't like to sit on the back for a longer trip because of the vibrations. They were very uncomfortable. The new Sportster seems to be much better in that area. Passenger pegs are no longer mounted on the swingarm but on the new vibration isolated frame.

An advantage of a Sporti for a longer trip or even a RTW is that it is very fuel efficient but you would better fit a larger tank then the standard Sportster tank.
