No evidence of insanity as far as I can see. In fact it makes me feel like the insane one.
Thanks for the link. It was a good way to start my day.

....... and a huge sponsorship! I met him in Moz 2002 and he was eeeehhh special....

sadoblazo 27 Apr 2007 13:17

man.... that very last shot is the dog's bullocks though!!

well.... perhaps youd like to see somebody who's doing it WITHOUT the huge sponsorship. This guy is from the area where i live (tuscany, Italy) and hes just great!!! Truly modest and down to earth guy! been gone for ages and he is now in New Zealand and man... what an adventure!

Sjaak Lucassen

His theory is that you can go round the world on any kind of bike and you're better off riding the kind of bike you feel most comfortable with. Apparently he blew off all the dirt bikes in soft sand because his tyres are about a mile wide. You have to be careful on rough roads though as the suspension is not very compliant.

It's the clearing out of the muddy water from the exhaust that cracks me up every time I see it!

met the guy in Ireland.

There is no doubt that he is insane :) but arent we all :)

Sjaak

I met Sjaak at the HU meeting in Belgium last year. He was there with his R1.
He showed the movie and told about his adventures. Very interesting and a very nice guy.

My friend was telling me a few years back that he had seen an R1 at Daytona bike week with 100,000 miles on the clock.he said the guy was on a rtw trip,i didn't believe him.I asume this was the guy..AWSOME.Do you think his back hurts a little???

swaino 28 Apr 2007 07:51

Yes, that would have to be the most uncomfortable long distance riding position i've ever seen, what a great trip though, i'd love to see more, is there a DVD?

jkrijt 28 Apr 2007 12:22

Sjaak has a CD for sale with pictures and video clips. Look at his website: Sjaak Lucassen | travelling the world by motorcycle | Yamaha YZF R1

Thanks for the link.
One question :confused1: - can anyone tell me where in the world the hand sculpture/statue thingy is (at 2:57 in the youtube video)?
Cheers for that.

Hand in the desert

The Hand can be found a couple of hrs (If I remember correctly) North of Antofagasta in Chile.
