Calling all aussies - overlanding opportunity

OPPORTUNITY FOR ALL AUSSIE TRAVELLERS- I am undertaking a self-drive tour with Tibet-Tours entering via Kathmandu,Nepal on the 5th of July through Tibet, China and Exiting in Laos (total 25 days)... Our tour has just learned that our friends at the Chinese government have changed rules for Tibetan permits. Only groups with nationalities of 5 or more will be granted Tibetan permits... So currently in my tour group we have 3 Aussies already, thus we are required 2 more....

The fee structure for the tour company is a total amount which gets divided accordingly amoungst the whole group.... Tibet-Tours have kindly advised that they would not charge for additional people, so therefore their total tour price would stay the same divided by a greater number of people. Additional calculations estimate around 200 Euros for the tour fees... (thats right guided tour, 25 days for only 200 Euros) Vehicle permit costs you would NOT have to worry about (owners of vehicles are taking care of that).... So the costs associated for you would be around 200 Euros for tour (TBC as it may work out significantly cheaper than this) + individual visa costs (very minimal, cant recall exactly) + chip a little for fuel costs

This person could if they like stay with me in my campervan at night (sleeps 2 or if they prefer stay with the others in the hotel/hostels along the way (I will stay in my van in the secured parking lots of hotels along the way)

I am in the process of confirming weather this person needs to stay for the whole tour of 25 days or can optionally come for only the Tibetan province (ofcourse costings would be signicantly ammeneded for a shorter time)

For those interested i can send you complete itinerary and further details as you require.....Let me know ASAP if your interested in this wonderful opportunity

Hi Andrew
This post may be a little late in the day, however have you secured your 2 Australian passengers yet? The trip sounds particularly appealing in terms of the route you are taking and also the time frame. Just wondering who is making up your team and if you had a detailed itinerary that you may be able to email that would be excellent. If you could confirm the costs assuming you have the 5 Australian passport holders for the section thru China (guides etc) that would also be helpful. If everything stacks up I could be on a flight into Nepal prior to your overland departure date assuming of course you have not as yet filled your human quota !
Cheers Andrew

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
