Riding the globe clockwise May 2013

The whole idea is to ride from Europe (Greece) to Asia & America. The duration of the trip should be 3-4 months. So here are the countries that I planned to visit and drive though.

starting from Greece
Turkey
Iran
Turkmenistan
Uzbekistan
Kyrgyzstan
Kazakhstan
Russia
Mongolia
Russia road of bones to Magadan
Ferry to South Korea
Ship bike to Alaska
Canada
And keep on to US driving the west coast to California. From there 2 plans
1. Drive to New York and ship bike to EU
2.if everything is going perfect keep on for Latin America to Chile.
If keep on with 2nd plan the duration should be 2 more months.

The beginning of the trip is middle of April or May 2013 so as to drive in Alaska during summer. I drive a BMW GSA 1200 and I have made 2 more big trips in Africa and whole Europe. I am looking for a rider to drive together as this will be a long time trip and I prefer not to drive alone. If anyone is interested send me a message and we will be in touch. There are plenty of things that need to be prepared so there is not much time ))

I am 30yrs old as I said from Greece, safe rides amigos

New possible date for beginning is March.

It will be end of May until Magadan so Alaska will wait me around July. Best time to ride.

Also i am thinking visiting Japan from Donghae port for 1 week.

All the three options are on the game. It depends of the region the weather, my health condition.

I will be carrying my tent all the time in case I can't find a place safe for my bike to leave during the night. I don't have a problem with camping and I don't mind hostels

Ambitious plans to be sure. A lot of hard riding to make it from Greece, through Turkey, the Stans, Russia, Mongolia, Road of bones, Vlad, down to Korea and over to the U.S. and up to Alaska in a couple months. I'm afraid it would take me that long to travel clockwise around Greece.

I have been sitting here visualizing clock dials and the globe in my mind and I must admit heading east around the world seems counterclockwise from where I am sitting. A clear sign to me that I need to spend more time in the southern hemisphere.

I wish you well in your travels.

Best,
John Downs

Hello mlock

After receiving a private message from you today I decided to look at your post. You have a great trip planned.

Unfortuately Mongolia and 'Road of Bones' is not a deviation I could make. If I start in UK and travel through China I will be heading south into either Vietnam or Laos on my way home to Australia.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
