Rider needed!!!

I am traveling with a couple of friends heading for Central and South America. We are all in our thirties and we are all on Klr 650s and currently getting our last services and final preperations done in San Diego area today. We left Alaska a couple weeks ago and are looking forward to some fun in the sun. Unfortuanately one of our riders is in desperate need to fly back to Alaska and handle some stuff for work. And instead of him leaving the bike somewhere, flying home, then flying back down and trying to play catch up. We are looking for someone who might be interested in just flying in and meeting up with us and riding his bike for a couple of weeks. We will be leisurely traveling and relaxing along the way. That's right. A fully equipped bike, ready to go, just in need of someone looking for a quck getaway for a week or two. The bike is a 2012 klr completely set up and equipped for cross country riding. Someone who is fluent in spanish would be a plus, but not completely necessary. Any takers???

Just in case it's helpful, are you aware that the bike will need to be registered to the person riding it? This can be done, but it needs attention in advance.

Hope that's helpful. If not, just ignore completely.

I think so, if you are willing to cross land country border, you should be aware about it... Usually the bike has to be registered to the person who riding it... But nothing is really fix overthere, you can do it with a bit of luck... Have a nice journey !!

hi. I would be interested. First thing though - I don't speak Spanish; other than ordering coffee!! However; I rode my own bike through south america for 2 month, Nov and dec last year - I did Argentina, Chile,Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, and Columbia.
So I know the environment and have the experience. I am Irish male, 50 and I think easy company
The other posts that mention the registration issue have a point - sometimes the border crossings can be tricky. It is possible that a letter of approval from the owner, signed by a notary.
Anyway, let me know your thoughts. My email is montague.brian@gmail.com

KLR Rider in SoCal

This sounds too good to be true. I am in South Orange County and sorely missing my KLR that I left in Alaska. Please e-mail me if you haven't already found a rider. I go down to San Diego several times a week and would love to meet up with you guys.
Thanks,
Justin

Thanks for all the info and responses. We have actually managed to figure out a different game plan after all. And after looking into the paper work aspect of it and talking to some other people who tried the same thing we have found it to be quite harder than originally thought. Apparently not only do you have to have a notarized signed document from the owner. But the person riding has to be a BLOOD relative of the bike owner. I did talk to some people who said they where just told to forge the documentation and change the names but that just sounds a little sketchy to me. But fortunately we have found a friend with a house in P.V. where we can just leave the bike for a week or two until my friend can fly back down and play a little catch up ridding. But thanks again for all the info and I'm sorry for getting anyones hopes up.

I'm in SD and can assist with local logistics if that will help your group. Dan
