How was the trip and was it much trouble to fly the bike from Panama to Bogota and how much did it cost you because I am leaving this sunday for BA and will also have to fly the same way.
Thanks
Pat The Bouc from Montreal

panammericana-answer to pat the bouc

hi pat,you can bargain with girag -mailto:comercialpty@girag.com.- .their price in february08 was 550 dollars all inclusive from PAN to BOG.when i arrived mid september they wanted 1550 !we brouhgt it down to 750 cash.it was very easy with very few paperwork.disconnect the battery, tell them there is only very few fuel and leave them your bike one day before the early morning flight.with some luck you can get it in the cargo area in BOG the next day,i had no luck,i had to wait for one more day.but BOG was so interesting -so i did not mind.it is anyway easier to go there by bus+taxy.rest of the trip was smooth +easy.bordercrossing between the so called bananarepublics was much faster and easier with the support of tramitadores, this are eager young guys who take 10 dollars for a 2 hour job.dont forget:it is very rainy in middleamerica.good luck+safary njema

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
