Pakistan-KKH-China-Kyrgistan April/May 2011

Hi There,
we're a swiss couple travelling with a Toyota Landcruiser Camper in India and are looking for others to share the costs through China next spring.
We have an offer for 1250 US$ for 4 days, but we're open to stay longer/ take different route (maybe Nepal-Tibet-Kyrgistan???).
Please let us know if you have similar plans...!

Hello,

we are 3 french guys riding from Bangalore to Paris on Bullet RE, and we would like to do the same bit of journey than you (from India to Khirghizistan via Pakistan, the KKH and China), but in August: our trip starts the 26th of july in Bangalore, so we plan to arrive 3 weeks/1 month later near the chinese border. Do not hesitate to contact us if you are ok to change your dates or if you know anyone who is doing the same trip by the end of august and would like to share the price of a guide in China.

many thanks!
Cheers,
Samuel

Hi,

we have received an interesting quote from a tournig agent (nature_wunlang) for our 3 motorcycles:

If the 3 motorcycles and stay in China 5 days the cost is: 1300 USD

The cost in detail is as following:

1 Permit for enter China: 50 USD

2 license plates: 30 USD *3 motorcycles = 90 USD

3 Insurance for the guest: 10 USD p/p *3= 30 USD

4 Insurance for the third person: 40 USD *3 / motorcycles = 120 USD

5 Fee for the Customs: Khoqirap Pass: 200 USD for three motorcycles

Turgart pass: 200 USD for three cycles

6 Driving License: 20 USD *3= 60 USD

7 Service for the guide: 80 USD a day * 5 days= 400 USD

8 Trance for the guide: 150 USD. ( Kashgar –Khonqirap Pass and Kashgar- Irkeshitan pass).

What do you think about the details? We find the customs fees quite huge, and we don't know what "Trance for the guide" means (maybe he wants to buy tickets to a trance festival?), but otherwise it is cheaper than any other quote we have seen or received so far...

Cheers

Sam

Make sure he is a genuine agent. Does he have a web site? Recommended by others? Other satisfied customers.
None are cheap.

Cheers,
John

pakistan throgh china next spring

Hello, we are a family travelling with a truck (jusalulu) and are also planning to cross china from pakistan next spring to then reach mongolia. We are at the moment heading for djibouti where we will ship our truck to India. We still have to get our Pakistani visa and will probably be in Pakistan in the winter ( i have family there) we aren't keen on going south through Iran and were considering the same option as you....sharing costs would be good. We are fairly flexible but don't have alot of information at the moment ( how and where to get visas, costs etc) maybe we can get in touch. I have just joined the hubb today, and somehow aren't able to contact anyone privately, but maybe you can. You can contact me on our web site if you want..
Ciao Jusalulu

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
