Overland to New Zealand via India

Hello HUBBers

I am newly subscribed to the HUBB and considering heading for New Zealand in the not too distant future on my trusty Suzuki DR650 SE. Planning to leave either the end of this year or early next year 2009. My plans are pretty flexible at the moment, but main aim is to get to Northern India and stop there a while as i am interested in Buddhism and i also want to explore the Himalayas on bike and/or foot. Maybe up to one year there. I am not too enthusiastic about crossing Turkey, Iran and Pakistan alone; so if anyone is considering travelling at the same time perhaps we could discuss this. Regards, Jenny.

4x4

Hi there Jenny,

we are planning on heading to Oz in our 4x4, leaving the UK in April 2009, taking a year or two to get there, including some considerable time in India.

We aren't taking in Turkey, but instread going via Russia and the Stans, then Iran and Pakistan, then India.

Feel free to contact us at some point if you wanted to meet up for some of the way. We might also meet up with a friend of ours who is doing a similar route on a bike. But he needs to pass his test first, which is today!

Check out our website for more details, although we need to update it as we are no longer going via China, rather India.

Cheers

lONDON TO MELBOURNE

Promised to catch up with a few mates who left for OZ a couple of months ago. Seems like the perfect excuse to take a bit of a bike trip. Plan is to head off before the end of the year after buying a suitable bike. Not so sure my R6 is up to the task. Route wise have'nt anything definte, hence my reason for joining this forum.

Hi and thanks for replying. Glad to hear there are a few folk heading about the same way at about the same time. I need to read up how this BB works to figure out how to contact you all personally. Cheers, Jenny.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
