I'll also be around. I arrive in LA in the middle of May and then head north to Alaska for a cruise before heading back south and then to the east coast to finish in Miami in October.

I was thinking about setting up an email list on my web site for travelers southbound around the same time to easily keep in touch. If you would like to be on this list, let me know.

Hi John and everybody, I suppose by August I'll be in Ecuador, I'll stay there for some months so, when you are going past Cayambe let me know if you need a place to store your bike or I might be able to help with accomodation by then, for those who don't know, Cayambe is about 80 km before getting to Quito from North to South and it's on the Panamerican. My email is marcomonteros@hotmail.com.

I'll be heading South from Montreal or Toronto from early May down to Chile by early November. I'm on an old, kind of tired looking R65 with Aussie plates. Might see you on the road somewhere, ten suerte!

I'll be traveling south through Mex to Guatemala in July if anyone would like to join me.
If you want to keep track of where I am you can at ricky.static.com.
or Ricky Brooks (RickyBrooks) on Twitter. If you have your static or twitter account synched with your cell (email) you will get a message each time I check in (broadcast).
I will be using static/twitter for my entire trip to tdf so I should be very easy to find if anyone wants to hook up.

Miguel, are you flying your own bike from Spain to the US? What does it cost? I made a few enquiries to fly Madrid to Canada, but it's cheaper for me to ride to London and fly it from there. I might be in San Francisco around that time, but probably i will have already crossed into Mexico.

USA to Antarctica through Mexico at the and of May

I am planning to set out from Madison, WI in the middle of May and to be at the US-Mexico border at the end of May ot latest at the beggining of June. I may quickly pass Mexico because of influenza but hope to see you on the road!

By the way, what kind of precautions are you going to take against swine flu?

I'm also traveling south through Latin America

Hi all,

I'm crossing the border into Mexico on Monday 11 May 2009 and heading south through Baja California and then across to the mainland. The plan is to spend a few weeks in each country (depending on what it's like when I get there). However, these plans are very flexible so if anyone wants to meet just drop me a line.

You can find progress of my trip and perhaps organise to meet on my blog:

Travels on a Motorbike

I also have an information site to elp people that are planning to have there own motrcycle adventure.

Greasy Sprocket - Motorcycle Adventure Touring Planning and Advice

Would be good to meet up with fellow bikers at some point.
Thanks,
Ollie

Ride to Ecuador

Dear Riders,
I'm interested in a ride to Ecuador. Please get me on to your list. I'll be going out of Los Angeles, CA.
My interest is in ending up in Guayaquil and shiping my bike back by boat.
Thanks,
R2Roman

Crossing into Mexico mid September en route to TDF

Solo on a red '07 KLR from Illinois to Ushaia this fall. Hope to cross into Mexico at Brownsville around 9-18-09, fly to Medellin out of Panama on 10-7-09, then fly me & the bike home in time for Christmas with my wife & kids.

Hope to cross some CA borders with someone who can help watch the bikes. Would also like to ride the Bolivian salt flats with someone the first or second week of November.

Feel free to contact me. Thanks.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
