North america- south america- Africa- South Asia- Middle east- USSR- Northern Europe

So it's in the planning, starts may next year, due to take 2 years (oh god!) on my own, and as i'm 21 my parents are kinda worried about me doing it on my tod, i've always been ballsy about it, but recently been reading through horror stories and decided it's probably best to see if i can meet up with people for the most dangerous parts, especially Asia and certain Africa countries as people have been telling me they're not too polite to women? Planning to go through Zimbabwe and Afghanistan, anyone up for that?? i'm not too neurotic, i'm very caring, have a tendency to mother people and i'm pretty much one of the boys.

Details... Err tents, tesco's chicken noodles, no plan/no clue. Doing all 50 states, then going down through Americas, into Morocco, up and down all through Africa. Into Asia/middle east, weird directional challenge to get to Russia, then back into England via northern Europe, decided i can do the rest later. Very little drinking to be involved, only funny drinking games with spirits if called for, oooh and lot's of stop offs at material factories.

If there's anything i've forgotten just ask, but there is very little plan, more just follow the ...... birds?

Umm

Ambitious plan--Hope you bring it to fruition. States will be a good place to warm up to bike travel--relatively safe and all that. If it happens next year drop me a line--could give you names of people in several states that could always give assistance--place to camp and shower or a room, leave your bike for awhile if needed, repair, info on the area, etc. Live in the midwest myself--probably the least exciting area of the US(might get blasted for that comment). Anyway--have traveled a little on bike myself--South Africa, Mexico, France--and think it's nice to have contacts if needed or trouble arises--of course, this offer is open to all--blokes and gals. Good luck

Thanks but i've got america sorted as i have alot of family and friends out there, currently doing what you said and finding 'base camps' in the countries i'm aiming for (facebook poker proving very useful), and lot's of friends in the army is helping (quite a few mechanics), all contact info would be brilliant. Still finalising the plans, but hopeful it'll be may next year, but depends on my mates baby bump...
u up for a trip into south america?

Actually--I am up for a trip to SA...but since I'm old enough to be your father--would most likely cramp your style. And am getting quite restless--so may even head out late fall if things would fall into place--depends on stumbling across right travel partner or partners and a few other things.

Sounds like you have a pretty good handle on some of your planning--but it will for sure get confusing at times--since you will find such a myriad of opinions on every topic. The good part--your opinion is the only one that counts in the end.
Also was going to say--know a couple different woman who are on similiar adventures as yours--could give you their contacts if you were interested---since a womans perspective is, I'm sure, at least a little different than a blokes.
Otherwise--give me a shout when you pass thru the midwest US

cheers for that, finally found the bike (royal Enfield, who'dve thought),so things really on the move. Haha, nah more experienced rider preferred for joining in the early stages just for the extra info and tips, that and i'm really lose to my dad so it'll probably minimize home sickness, don't suppose you've got a cuddly dog i could borrow, mine hates bikes?? Think i'm doing ok, got all my checklists although there's probably a whole folder of things i've forgotten, but as long as i have my art supplies and my mates on speed dial it'll be fine. Any tips on avoiding snake bites and stuff when camping, will mosquito nets do?
Oh and contact info for other females would be great, aiming for on my own but realising safety in numbers.
Thankyou

Haha--no snakes to really worry about in most the states--unless you like to camp in swamps. Mosquitos are only bad in a few states--Minnesota being one of the worst--but depending on time of year you really won't have all that much problem--pm'd you some other info--but not sure it went thru.
