Hello fellow bikers,

Just to check if there is anyone out there who may be travelling that particular route & beyond into Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Dakota & Montana.

I'm currently in Brooklyn, New York city. Not sure when I get to leave, as there is a problem with my trusty steed that has to be fixed before I set off.

I can't join you but it sounds like a great trip. Have you considered by-passing the Chicago traffic and crossing Lake Michigan via ferry? I've done so on the slow boat out of Ludington. It took 4 hours so you save more sanity than time but if you need to make time you could snooze on the crossing and be ready to ride once you arrive. Home : S.S. Badger. Just a thought. Either way, ride safe and enjoy the trip.

There's also a fast ferry that leaves from Muskegon MI-Milwaukee WI, depending on where you want to end up. Trip takes 2 hours, but a bit more expensive.

Also, consider going through the Upper Peninsula, US-2 along Lake Michigan, or M-26 along Superior. Both are beautiful drives at just about any time of year.
