NL to India and back sep/oct 2004

Hi people,

I'm planning on traveling to India and Nepal (the usual route through Turkey, Iran, Pakistan), leaving around september/october this year! Probably spending about 6 months traveling there and then coming back by bike quite fast (to avoid costs and hassles with shipping/flying).

I'm also planning on getting a KLR650 or a Dominator or something, to have some fun off the beaten track. The only problem with my schedule is that I will probably have to miss the KKH...

So, anyone else planning on doing roughly the same trip??

Sounds like a good trip!

If you are going on a Dominator Ive still got a Technoflex rear shock with adjustable high & low speed inbound and rebound ...

** Plus a neat well proven bagage rack!

Sounds good, if I do get a Dominator I'll be sure to come and have a look...

Hi Peerke,

Planning a similar trip to India at roughly the same time for also 6 - 7 months. Let me know more details if you can - I'm currently planning on doing the trip solo, but wouldnt mind a bit of company!

Got a Dominator as it happens - wouldn't recommend it for such a long trip due to comfort issues, but it is good for getting off the beaten track...

Cheers, Steve

Hi Guys, I'm also planning a trip in your direction - I had it planned for May 04 but its looking more like Sep/Oct now. I shall be on a Pan ST1100 or GL1100 Goldwing, not the best off roaders around but nice and comfortable for the long haul. Have you got your route etc worked out?. I plan to do the KKH - can't go that far without a look :-)
Keep me posted,
Cheers, Oletimer (George)

Oh well! Time to put my hand up. Australian working in Dublin in '04 & will be heading home about then. No bike yet. Sold my R80RT to go over & will prob buy an XRV750 as I have very fond memories of owning one of the 1st XLV750's to arrive in Oz. Very versatile bike!
Keep me in the loop!

Hi people,

sorry for the late (and short) reply, but I've been on holidays the last three weeks and I will be back next week. Then I'm going to continue planning the trip, post to the hubb etc.

Till next week, cheers,
Peter
