New Delhi to Leh in June. Tires? Advice? Wanna come along?!?!

Two months ago I made an impulse decision: buy a 2003 AT in Thailand, and ride it to Portugal. Or South Africa. Or wherever, so long as it was an adventure. So far, so good. But, Asia is easy. The roads are good (enough), and the people are fantastic.

Carnet now in hand, I'll soon ship the bike to New Delhi. I'll be headed to Leh to get out of the heat/ rain. The trip will likely be the most difficult thing I've done so far. I slowed down my trip, so I wont enter Pakistan until March 2014. So, I'm chilling in Nepal/ India until then. Scored a 6 month multi entry Indian visa in PP cambodia for $65 quite easily by the way. Was also issued a second, valid, US passport at the US embassy there. Again, no real issues with that (although the guy in charge of issuing them got me good. He asked what model bike I was riding. When I replied 'Honda', he sighed and said they could only issue me a second passport if I was riding a Harley. I totally fell for it. I got pranked by the worlds only comedic bureaucrat).

Anyone know how the roads will be? Any general advice? Anyone else headed that way/ wanna join up? Obviously, haven't ridden in India yet, or in any place all that crazy (Phnom Penh, a bit crazy).

Mostly, anyone think I'll want knobby tires? As a rider, I don't have a ton of experience. I'm on a 2003 Honda AT 750. Its heavy as f#%k, and I've dropped it a few times :blushing:

I'm in BKK for the week if anyone wants to meet up for a beer there as well.

Thanks for the advice.
Andrew
