Scandinavia, Eastern Europe, June 2011 onwards

Hello all,

In 2009 I went RTW on my trusty (rusty) XT600. For 2011 I was planning to do Trans-Africa and the Pan-American, until last August when I went cycling, got hit by a car, and nearly died.

With those plans on hold until I recover a bit more fitness, I'm taking the relatively easy option of a quick jaunt through Europe on my F800GS.

On Friday 10th june I'll be on the Newcastle-Amsterdam ferry, first stop my old favourite the Nurburgring. After Germany I'll be making my way through Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Ukraine, Romania, and Bulgaria to Turkey.

I had planned to visit Syria and Jordan, but I'll have to wait and see what the political situation is like when I get there.

Hope to meet some of you on the road somewhere. I'll be the guy on the grey 2008 F800 GS with an HU sticker on the panniers, sometimes wobbling quite a bit because my brain and my eyes don't quite work as well as they did before I got two tons of metal in my face at 40mph....

Ride safe!

Crikey mate! Glad you're on the road to recovery.

I'll be working in Bulgaria and Romania in mid-July so riding there and back - yellow F800GS. Haven't decided which way round to get there but maybe catch you en route somewhere.

Enjoy your trip.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
