Hi,

I just arrived in India with my camper. looking for an alternative to ship the car to Pucket in beginning 2014, I found your post with the route over Nepal and Tibet witch I didn't know it was possible.

Could you please post more details about the different papers you need, agencies, budget, best dates to cross Tibet and in general some mistakes to avoid??

Thank you in advance.

Hi Furgonauta,

This China part was not possible because China closed the Tibet border.
So, due to this we needed to ship our bikes to BKK via air from Kathmandu.

If Tibet is close, the only option would be around Pakistan and KKH, is it?
Does anyone have new information or did it in the last time?

Thanks

Tibet may be possible now, it wasn't late last year. We did the 5 day china run from Kyrgyzstan to Pakistan down the KKH. Check with various tour companies, there are quite a few. Just be prepared to reroute if necessary.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
