Motorbike trip South/Central America 2006
 

I'm looking to find some one or put together a very small group to travel round South and Central America by motorbike in 2006. I'm pushing on in my thirties, so would like to travel with someone of a similarish age and the more laid back the better.

I did an overland bike trip from London to Australia, via the Middle East, Asia and China a few years ago, so have got a pretty good idea on putting things together and it's pretty straight forward, the biggest thing is the money to finance the trip as realistically it will cost a fair amount to do. It's pretty early days for a trip in 2006, but the planning has to start early for it all to come together. All you need is a bike license and be up for a little bit of hardship.

I have been recently thinking about a trip from Canada down to Central and then S. America starting the middle of next year.

How long would you envisage your trip lasting for?

I was thinking around 9 months, but am open minded about how long it would take and want to enjoy the trip, rather than rush it.

I'm very flexible, but finance wise it has to be beyond April 2006, plus you need to think about hitting certain weather windows to make sure you get the good weather.

If this fits in with anyone else, give me a shout, as I'm raring to go.

I haven't got my trip bike sorted yet, but will take a second hand dual sport of some kind, if possible pretty light. I'd like to get an old BMW R80 G/S, but the chances of finding one in good condition are pretty slim.

Myself and a couple of mates will be leaving about mid year to travel from Deadhorse to TDF. We're all taking identical R100GS/PD's with a 'few' mods - but all the same. We're planning on it being a quick-ish trip 3-4 months, then one of the guys will be staying on much longet in South America.
