Morocco/Turkey 2014

Hi
Looking for mature/retired folk with no time constraints who might be interested in travelling by motorbike to Morocco/Turkey in 2014.
I am 64 and got back into bikes this year, there was a couple of Morocco trips on other forums that i fancied but they were always going to do extensive riding on the piste which would have been too much for me.
so i went on an organised road tour to get my feet wet and that has given me lots of ideas
I fancy going late April and doing mostly road with a little off road (ie connecting the Todra and Dades gorges) I say mostly road but found that some of the B roads in Morocco are just dirt so some kind of adventure bike would be preferable, but also keen to explore hiring in Marrakesh as it works out half the cost of driving down.
I have a enough French to get by,can do minor road repairs like fixing puctures.I have travelled extensively in Europe/Asia by motorbike/pushbike/foot etc
The other trip is in August and is an ABR forum rally to Bulgaria. i would like to take a month at least and do the Transfagarasan on the way down and then ride round the sea of Marmara. Albania and the Balkans on the way back home.
Anyway thats enough for now,if you are interested or have any plans yourself just get in touch
Cheers
Steve

Steve
I am planning a trip into Morocco in the first part of May. I am a retired Canadian who has a bike in Malaga and will fly in from Canada for a 2 or more month ride. Southern Spain then Morocco. After that I plan to ride up to England for my daughters graduation from university in London. May work out to the same time as your trip, keep me posted. My French is weak and Spanish is strong.
Cheers
Cal

Hi Cal
Thanks for replying,May sounds fine.
What kind of bike do you have in Malaga and is it mostly road riding your intend to do.
Ideally using cheap hotels ,no camping. not too many miles a day about 150/200 would be enough.Travelling the R roads rather than the Nationals if possible and definatley doing things like the Test.
I would probably like to stay a couple of days in various places and not travel every day.
Would like to keep costs down to £50/$90 Canadian a day or MAD700.
Envisage 3/4 weeks but of course folk can stay longer or shorter depending on their own timescales.
May i believe is nice in Morocco with temps in the 20s.
So now that you have an idea of my plans you can see if they suit you or not.
regards
Steve

Its a 99 transalp, never been to Europe before so everything will be new to me! I think I may be in for a little sticker shock as all my tours of Mexico and Central America have been an average of 50.00/day this is hotels ,food and fuel, even 50/day here in Canada as I camp all the time. My research shows good camping in Spain and France. I have a friend in Malaga and one up in Belguim to stay with. As the time draws near I'll private message you.
