Just returned from a similar trip

Hi

your trip sounds similar to mine. i went out solo through Belgium and Germany across to Poland. i got as far as Varna in Bulgaria before heading back. It was my first tour of the continent and first big tour so i guess i made a few mistakes.

I did around 300 miles a day which was way too much to still expect to stop off and see things during the day. I did a bit of camping however next time id just stay in cheap hostels and save on the weight.

The rain was a real downer on the trip and i was soaked for two days in Romania. I also fell off twice in Romania as the roads were covered in mud.

I got to the end of my tour in Austria and rode non stop till Calais. i think next time id just take it easy heading home.

still im itching to get back over next break i have and do more.

Colditz is well worth the stop over, hostel in the castle is clean and new, cheap as well. Even get to look at the tunnels and a small museum.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
