Hi Nova1
I am also planning on being in Morocco around the end of March, looks like I will be driving down through France, Spain (friends to see etc.) I'm hoping to spend a couple of weeks exploring Morocco and then heading south, possibly Dakar or further depending on funds. Hadn't considered hooking up with anyone but that's always an option, I have always found the GSA up to the task but from experience I am realistic about my capabilities first before considering what the bike can do. From other threads it sounds like there will be plenty of riders around at that time, so we may meet up at some point. I'll be watching the HUBB with interest.

Morocco

Hi thanks for the reply. The GSA is a great bike and fantastic 2 up loaded ( which is mostly what I got it for) as far as off road I am very realistic and the thought of all that weight sends shivers down my spine my ideal choice of bike in morocco would be an xtz or f800 but I will take the GSA and plan on only the gravel tracks that are well trodden for a big bike with a fair mix of road too. As I'm carrying a bit of weight I need to keep routes simple and fun and for me it's about exploring on 2 wheels and getting away from the hassles of running a business for a few weeks. I fancy hooking up with other riders here and there to break things up and the obvious safety advantage when going of the beaten track . Done loads of travel before some on bikes a lot smaller and lighter! And the usual backpacking so like to be fairly flexible as things so often change when travelling. Anyway keep in touch as happy to hook up in morocco

I will be in Morocco from the middle/end of April for about 8 days, then heading to the Pyrenees for a bike rally at a friends campsite, meeting up with my partner, son and mates for some fun before heading home.. Portsmouth/Plymouth, Santander/Bilbao ferry. Myself with a V-strom 1000 and two mates on 1200GSA's.. Will let you know dates when they are confirmed. Could be possible to meet up some where..

Cheers Jim

Morocco

Hi

I will be riding my V Strom 650 , leaving UK in late april and staying in Morocco for four to five weeks. I am a Kiwi, aged 62 and spent last year on a 21000 km trip through Europe. I will be camping and staying in hotels and my only commitment is to meet the handbrake ( Mrs) for a few days in Marrakech or the coast.

Happy to meet

Peter

Hi Nova
I'm heading for Morocco just after Easter which I'm planning to spend in Spain so will be taking the Spain/Morocco ferry around 11/12 April. Don't know which one yet
I want to spend 3-4 weeks in Morocco with a Freewind 650 (Transalp type) and apart from visiting Fez and some cultural sites the mountains are calling my name.
I don't do huge mileage in a day as I like to enjoy the country but would be happy to spend at least some of the time travelling with a companion as Morocco is totally new to me

Customs

Hi don't worry about customs head to tanger it's easy as the port is new it takes about an hour so just chill then when all your papers are stamped the money change and insurance is on the left. Trust me it's no problem if anything I would say as easy as entry to uk just they speak French which I don't but everyone points so it's cool good luck and don't worry

maybe a starter to get you all warmed up... ;-)

Morocco 2011 - YouTube

I have to say that I sold my GSA and we went with the DRZ's and I don't regret it for a moment. But truth is that of course some parts that we did you would never ever be able to do with a GSA, so just go easy with the GS and look for the gravel roads/pistes as the really small paths that we did some days you can forget doing it with a GSA... ;-)

Other that that, don't take your tent with you if you are not going to use it everyday... cheap accomodation is everywhere. To give you an idea, we paid for 2 people for the night, incl breakfast and dinner 20€ in total... just BARGAIN everywhere!

Have a great trip!
