Hello, I´m planing to go to a tour around Morocco, thinking about on road tour , i have 12-15 days tryp, in the first days of august. I ride a BMW F650 GS, and have not experience at all, in this kind of trips. Any advices?, Is there anyone interested?.

Visiting Morocco in August isn't ideal, but I see you're from Madrid, so you'll be more used to the heat than us from cold and rainy England.

Having said that, I might very well be there this August as well. I've holidayed twice in Marrakech in August and the heat of the city was terrible for me, though my wife and daughters were OK. I did a couple of weeks trekking in the High Atlas in July and found that the temperatures were much better at altitude.

The hottest places in August will be the south east, in fact I think all the hotels in the Erfoud/Merzouga area are closed in August as nobody goes there. The coolest places will be near the coast (a cool ocean current runs down the Atlantic coast) or in the mountains--the Middle Atlas and Anti Atlas might be your best bet.

Morocco is on GMT all year round, so is two hours behind Spain. I suggest you keep your body clock on Spanish time so that you get up early in the mornings and take advantage of the relative coolness at that time of day. Personally I would ride through the middle of the day, and then halt for the night mid/late afternoon--somewhere with a pool to chill out.

The sun is extremely strong in the middle of the day, but if you are on the bike you'll be wearing protective gear and it won't be so much of a problem. It will be extremely dry, though, and you'll need to drink lots and lots of water. If you are not peeing, or if it is a strong yellow colour, then you're not drinking enough.

Also take optrex or similar as your eyes will dry out. Plus ultra dark sunglasses and lip balm. Take a floppy sun hat in case you have to halt where there's no shade. I hate it if it's hot at nighttime, so I normally take a small 240v fan or several 12v battery fans.

Thank you very much, i´ll take your advice, and use these good link. In fact the idea is to make a tourist travel, whit no more than 160 -200 Km per day, each day early in the morning or in the late afternoon. The route may be from the harbor in the north trough inside road to fez, marrakech, and (2 places between) from there to Agadir, and after that retur around the seaside.
