Morocco 22 April to 11 May 2011
 

Bit of a short noitce but l,m heading to morocco from london (UK) over the easter break for 20 days (taking advantage of the bank hoildays :laugh: ) and am looking for a fellow biker to join me for all or part of the trip or if anyone is doing anything simular??, was in morocco last year on a R100GSPD doing the eastern/southen routes though might use my KLR650 this time as its alot lighter.

Hey we might be facing exactly the same dilemma except I am planning to leave a week earlier around Fri 15 April coming back Monday 1st (??) May

Any chance you could bring yours forward by a week ?

I have 2 bikes so have the same thoughts as you perhaps

1983 XT600 - (3 bike) trailer it down behind my Passat and leave the car in Southern Spain which is good for the pistes in Morocco

1989 XTZ750 - ride it all the way down and back

Plus Ferry to Spain as an option ??????

I have booked the time off work and my wife will kill me if I don't go having talked about it endlessly since my kids were born around 9 years ago.

I did a UK Cape Town a few years ago and I've gotta get back for a week or 2 else I'll go mad

I can't make my mind up which is the best way to go - pros and cons to both.

1 final point, I don't have a spare penny and boy, will this trip be done on a budget - I'm not too interested in a tourist trip at all, I just want to ride my bike on the pistes in the south of Morocco and not think about my normal humdrum life for a week or 2

Hi Rich,

Unforutnly l cant leave a week earlyer as l,m call with work for that week and was quite lucky to get the 22nd to 11th off work spreading 10 days hoilday leave over the easter break.

I was hoping to use the KLR for this trip as the GS was a right pig in the desert last time when l was last out there, but riding it down is a lot more straining than on the GS, I think using a trailer with smaller bikes on the back and driving down is alot better than riding if theres two people going as you can split the fuel and car parking costs but if going on just your own riding the larger bike down and back would be cheaper. l would,nt bother with the ferry to spain as its quite expense last time l checked as you need to have overnight accomdation.

I as well try to do things as cheap as possablie and are mainly going for the pistes offroading.

I am a photographer living in Belgium and I really need to get the hell out of here for a few weeks , 2 would be ideal ...

However I don't own a car so in my way it would be completely driving the bike over there ... , which is also fun I think ...

I'm a little bit on a budget , so I defeanitealy don't want to do it in a luxury way ...
are you planning to camp ? or will you stay in hotels ..

the only thing to worry about with me around is to stop now and then to shoot pictures :)

and by the way I see in your signature you own a xr650R !! wow , really looking for one since a while but they are simply almost "ghots" , I never saw one second hand in belgium ..

I’m planning a similar trip, heading down to Morocco between Easter and the Royal wedding, that’s Fri 22 Apr to Mon 2 May 2011.

I've already booked a ferry from Portsmouth to Caen to riding through France and Spain. Unfortunately I have to head home earlier :(
