Montana to Mexico roundtrip completed by solo female

Many Thanks to all who emailed with suggestions/encouragement. I finished that ride yesterday. It was my 55th birthday present to myself, and I celebrated my birthday at the Mexico border in Douglas, Arizona. I did not cross over--- I never saw another touring rider in the 9 days from Montana....? Where is everybody??The best days were riding the Big Sur coast and riding Rt. 191 from Clifton to Alpine, Arizona- 100 miles of hairpins with no guardrails....! Wheeeee..... Did the trip on '83 Honda GL650 SilverWing.Vintage bike, vintage rider!!! I learned: that I should look for a riding partner well before taking trip......Any comments/questions welcome!! maren

Congrats on your ride. Thanks for sharing your enthusiasm for riding. As far as finding other travelers it can be a problem. For instance not a lot of people travel in montana in november on their motorcycle (snow this morning in helena Mt.). My advice is to start early and by way of this wonderfull web site connect up with other travelers. Start planning that alaska trip for next year now.
P.S. thanks for stopping by the shop for some vintage honda service.

Hi Bill, glad to see you back, think last July was your last post? Didn't get to Alaska this year, but was through Montana three times. On the way to CO and back, and on the way to ND. Agree not many travel in montana in Novenber but you would think flyingtiger would have seen some touring riders farther south.
