three weeks, no experience, little money, got bike and camping stuff

I'm sixty, got a 2005 Tiger, passport, camping gear, a sense of adventure and a sense of humour. Not wanting to spend a huge amount of money, cheapskate.

I'm looking at a ride in europe or beyond in 2010. No set route, no set date, looking for like minded riders. SHMBO is willing to allow me up to three weeks could be pushed to four weeks of freedom.

Lets just see what turns up, I was thinking of a ride around the baltic or to eastern europe but nothing set in stone. Willing to trust to serendipity.

Go on reply, you know you want to.

Cookingfat, I do not believe you are sixty and have little experience, or were you referring to motorcycling? I am planning to go to Turkey via Italy & Greece, departing in late May for three weeks should that be something that may appeal to you.

Consider myself an experienced rider, just very little abroad. One trip to Norway (artic Circle) and a few weeks in France.

When were you planning on going and what is the proposed route? Sounds fun.

I'm off into Europe for about a month, leaving mid March. Planning to head to Montenegro, Bosnia, Croatia then back again. I'm also a cheapskate, and would welcome a bit of company somewhere along the line, even just for a day or two, I'm easy. Let us know,
Cheers,

Andy

Hi Cookingfat

I'm planning a quick trip through the Balkans in late-May and hoping to also have time for a more leisurely visit to the Baltic in August.

Be good to meet up for all or part if time and location work for you.

Many thanks for all the kind offers, I have taken up EMBEE's offer of riding with him to Turkey.

It says a lot about the membership of HUBB that in such a short while so many offers have been forthcoming. I'm touched.

Safe riding a fair weather to all.

Kindest of Regards

Geoff

Geoff

Don't forget a little ride report - I'm riding round Turkey in August/September and would like to know what sort of experience you have.

Have a nice one !

Fantastic to see the HUBB 'working' like this and linking up riders. To all above, but particularly DrewRev and Wildman, I'll be making my way through the Balkans sometime around late April or May, as part of my trip from Kuwait to Scotland, depending on when I start out. Like DrewRev, I wouldn't mind a bit of company along the way, even for just a day or two. I'll be looking out for ride reports and other likely threads here and on other biker sites. Ride safe all.

Hi MadJock!

You're right, this place is great isn't it?

I'm likely to be travelling by ferry from Italy in to Igoumenitsa, Northern Greece on 18th or 19th May, heading up through the Balkans (Macedonia - Albania - Montenegro - Bosnia - Croatia - Slovenia). Got to be in Brussels for 06 June so no mad rush. That's important as I'm a plodder; no 750 mile days for me.

Might be a little late in the month for you but if it fits your schedule, it'd be good to meet up and ride.

Hey Madjock, unfortunately I'll be back home in mid April, I could only get a month of work, but if your plans change at all, and you find yourself in the balkans a month early, let us know!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
